Comic book mastermind Geoff Johns is once again bringing some of DC Comics’ legendary superheroes to Smallville.

This week’s episode, entitled “Booster,” will mark the first-ever appearance of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in Metropolis.

While Booster Gold will be an established superhero come from the future, this episode will serve as a proverbial origin story of Jamie Reyes transforming into Blue Beetle, after being fused to the infamous scarab. Unfortunately, Jamie Reyes’ transformation into the superhero Blue Beetle isn’t going to come without problems.

With the scarab not fully adjusted to its new host, Reyes has a hard time controlling the Blue Beetle suit, and begins to tear apart the city. Fortunately, Booster Gold has arrived to save the day – or so his infomercial says. As the preview shows (see below), Booster Gold is making sure that everyone knows who the real man of steel is. With infomercial in hand, and some quick-timed “rescues,” Clark will soon realize just what being a superhero means.

“Booster” Preview:

Even though Clark will be sure to ditch the TV sales pitch and 1-800-number, Booster Gold allows Clark to see that the world needs a superhero that they can not only rely on, but one that they can also see. Given the moniker of “The Blur,” Clark begins to see where he has gone wrong.

While you shouldn’t expect to see Clark make the full transformation into Superman in this episode, you may be happy to see that Clark has begun to find more familiar places to make his superhero changes.

With only 3 episodes left before the Smallville series finale, let’s hope Cark begins to think about changing his costume as well. (Make sure to check out the Smallville series finale teaser at the bottom of the article.)

  1. Looks pretty good. Booster Gold is one of my favorite characters so I’m defly excited

  2. Oh hey!!! They finally put Clark in glasses in an episode. It’s been what? A month and a half since he said he was going be wearing them?

    • haha i thought they left out the glasses for good

  3. Does this version of BG have Skeets? (and is he from the future like traditional comics tell it?)

    • He is from the future, but I haven’t seen a mention or pic of Skeets, unfortunately. Here’s hoping…

      • When Geoff Johns was originally tapped to write the episode, he said Skeets would be there. So we’ll see.

  4. Booster looks amazing!

But Blue Beetle just doesn’t look right, the bottom half looks like spandex and the top random plastic. plus his left arm is out. I wonder if its the final cut? (I hope not)
But im gonna ignore that and just focus on Booster.

  5. Booster Gold is a complete and total Jackass. I absolutely love it.

  6. I really dig Clark’s jacket with the S on it. That is pretty sweet looking.

Booster’s outfit made me laugh…looks like he’s stuffing the crotch. Great homage to comic book characters

  7. Has anyone noticed that Smallville has turned into Superman- The Adventures of Lois & Clark. Just without superman of coarse. Where this show was once about drama and some action, with a little comedy. Has now become more of a comedy than anything else. I thought this show was about clark, yet this whole year has been anything but about him! Do you know that in the 20th episode Jor-El gives Lois Clark’s powers. How ridiculous is that for it being the second to last episode. Green Arrow has done more action than the man of steel this year. I think Lois should put on the costume in the finale. How is Clark gonna fight Darkseid, Granny Goodness, Desaad, and Lex Luthor in the Last 2hrs. Unless they cop out as usuall. And where’s The Martian Manhunter, taking a coffee break on mars. I thought he told Clark that Jor-el asked him to watch over him.

    • The show is about all the things that he goes through that makes him “the man” in the suit. All of his experiences have tought him something about himself, and how to fight evil with good.

  8. Bring back Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Peterson And Sauders have know idea what there doing!

  9. the whole Clark in the phone booth actually looks pretty cool.
now THAT looks like Clark Kent

  10. Anyone notice Booster looks like Captain Amazing from Mystery Men?
