ab justice Smallville: Absolute Justice Was A Ratings Hit

Whether you loved it or hated it (I loved it), there’s no doubt that the Smallville television movie event, “Absolute Justice”, was a ratings juggernaut for The CW as it broke all records by pulling in 2.8 million viewers, not only making it the highest-rated episode of the season, but also giving The CW the best Friday night that they’ve had since 2008.

Who said that hyping up the Smallville audience over the past couple of month wouldn’t pay off? Things are looking good for the superhero series, but until The CW officially gives Smallville another season, who knows.

Although, they did open things up quite a bit as “Absolute Justice” not only brought a slew of great characters (bring back Doctor Fate!), but also gave Martian Manhunter back his powers and spread news of Lex Luther still being alive.

If you’ve yet to see the television movie, I suggest you seek it out and then check out our “Absolute Justice” Review & Discussion as the debate is getting pretty heated over there. While no news of a re-airing has been announced The CW tends to put up full episodes of Smallville on their website. Here’s hoping they chose to put up “Absolute Justice” in its entirety.

Is there any chance Smallville won’t get another season? Anyone willing to make odds on Michael Rosenbaum returning to the show?

Don’t forget to catch this week’s episode of Smallville directed by Allison Mack (Chloe) entitled “Warrior.”

  1. Well if the shows gets another season(which I hope it does), then I can definitely see Michael Rosenbaum returning

  2. It was simply an amazing episode, Smallville has really become the great show it always threatened to be. I loved it from the first episode, but I could often see why it was so oft derided by others. Most of seasons 4,6,7 are a complete write off.

Of course Michael Rosenbaum will be back, the fact that they have now said Lex will return, if he doesnt then they have really written themselves into a hole! I imagine a deal is already in place, because the line about Lex could have easily been removed and not affected the story.

I loved every second of Absolute Justice, here's to hoping they do something like that next season, in fact I wish they had doen that with the Legion episode last year, because while that was cool it could have been amazing!

Another season is a must, with ratings like that!

I always used to think Smallville would be cancelled before we ever saw Superman, and now here we are, a possible tenth season on the horizon. Amazing. Smallville is one of TVs big success stories, not many shows of this genre have lasted this long. It is a credit to everyone who has been involved over almost(!) ten years.

  3. Had a rare Friday night off and my Wife took a chance andI really enjoyed it. Over the past nine years we have tried to watch 5 or 6 episodes a year and we hope there is a tenth. Manhunter getting his powers back was good news. I like the young Wellington and have appreciated his advancements in his craft and I feel now ….if there ever is another Supes film, this Lad is born to play the role. He has finally reached the right age.

  4. Who are they kidding? It was terrible. Enough with the lies already.

  5. If there was an unlike button, I would press it for you, Sir. Instead, I shall just unlike your comment… in my heart.

  6. LMAO, Good one Mr. Ocasio

  7. It was awesome! Glad you loved it! :0)

I do wish they'd re-air it on Wednesday though. Even if they have to break it up into 2 halves and air them back to back.

  8. was it just me or was star girl the most annoying character throughout the whole show?
the special effects for icedude could have been better and the overall acting could have stepped up a anotch, but on the whole it was a good episode.
it opened up many doors/windows for future plots (manhunter getting his powers back)
and they introduced checkmate which appear to be an assassination group with villians on their side (i dont follow DC so correct me if im wrong)
if they do get another season i hope they step things up, and maybe introduce his costume ;)

  9. “was it just me or was star girl the most annoying character throughout the whole show?”

    It wasn't just you.

  10. Awesome episode! I loved it, Hawkman looked pretty cool, even a little Batman-like, Star Girl was kind of annoying, but I looked past that. Dr. Fate was AWESOME, got to have a new Dr. Fate ASAP, Would not mind seeing the JSA appear next season, If the CW does not renew Smallville for a 10th (and possibly final) season, then they are stupid. A 10th season should be tights and flight, enough of the Blur.

  11. IT WAS GREAT!!!. TO ME IT PROVED THAT WE ARE READY FOR A JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE. ADDITIONALLY, MICHAEL SHANKS' PORTRAYAL OF HAWKMAN WAS THE BEST OF THE BUNCH. ATTENTION WARNER/DC PEOPLE….
    GREETINGS FROM VENEZUELA,

  12. Vic, i wouldn't have thought you would be the first to forget about 'Ice boy'.
Or did you just push that as far as you could out of your mind so you didn't have to think about it again? lol

  13. lol

  14. Heh, yeah, I think that's it. :)

  15. Just heard back from CW PR and they literally just put “Absolute Justice” on their website to watch.

  16. They did an awesome job!! CW should/must proceed with a tenth season and slowly introduce / transition to a JSA/JLA/Legion series the”Silver Age”. Yes the “Star Girl’s” character was annoying and she is supposed to be… her character is based after a 15/16 year old. This episode had implications of the return of Lex Luthor, a Hawk Man arc with the reincarnation if Sha'ira “Hawk Girl” where she denies their love to keep both of them alive, a Dr. Fate arc finding the new worthy one, a Green Arrow & Hawk Man Team up arc, a New Green Lantern arc about passing the ring to a new successor, a Sandman successor arc, a New Flash arc where Bart is mentored by the old flash, Martian Man Hunter Jon-Jonz arc about Mars, Clark Learns to Fly arc with the help of his cousin Super Girl Kara-El, crossovers to introduce Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince “Wonder Woman” in the Smallville world, an arc of Chloe “Watch Tower” locating the surviving Society/League members, and the introduction of Darkseid “Aka the coming Apocalypse” (King of Apokolips) as stated by Amanda Waller's character. I say move-on with this Kandorian plot and move-on to DC hero mythology or fuse them together to create super villains with less-than powerful Kandorian as they are all clones and cannot fully gain all the powers of a true Kryptonian (Aka Kal-EL and Kara-EL), and then bring on the “King of Apokolips” Darkseid. All these Episodes should have a Louis and Clark love story incorporated or have Clark save or be saved by these characters.
Bottom-line: This episode opened up a can of potential and endorsements for the CW. They would be ignorant to disregard this as there is a pre-existing extremely large built in fan base. Also the whoever did the casting for Smallville is doing an awesome job. It's in the casting.

  17. Yeah, but the didn't say WHEN he would return. And, they've written themselves into holes before, plenty of times.

I'd love to see him back, but I honestly think that they were just testing the waters, and setting up a *possible* storyline, just in case they're ever successful in getting Rosenbaum back. But, I doubt they've got anything set up with him at the moment. I think that was probably just comic writer Geoff Johns having some fun, and making a bold move on everyone's behalf.

  18. It was much better than I expected, but not as much as I'd hoped for. Wanted to see more of the JSA in action the way they were!

  19. Anybody else see that Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) is in jail for 20 years for selling drugs or something? I don't know if it's true, but I guess he won't be back til season 29.

  20. That didn't really have anything to do with anything, but I was curious to see if anyone else had heard that.
