Smallville Absolute Justice 04 Smallville: New Absolute Justice Promo Trailer & Images

With Smallville coming out of its winter break, the mid-season premiere is upon us this Friday, the 29th of January.

You would think that the mid-season premiere would be pretty exciting, but instead the fan base is pretty jazzed about the 2nd air date of the show’s return, the Smallville movie titled Absolute Justice. The event is scripted by DC Comics wunderkid, Geoff Johns, and features a whole bunch of superheroes.

The CW is technically calling it a movie.  They had a 2-part story arc and decided to make it a single evening’s event.

And with the hype, The CW releasing and new trailer and som images for the 2-hour movie event.

First, a look at the new trailer, which was released exclusively to Entertainment Weekly:

  1. The only part that doesnt look amazing was Hawkman flying but come on, this is a tv show, they have the tiniest budget to do these amazing things week in week out.

  2. I know its a TV show with a budget, but I see a lot of cheap plastic in that promo (Dr. Fate's and Hawkman's masks, the lantern and the ring). They can get a little more real than that.

  3. YAY! Wow that was crazy cool. can't wait

  4. I just wish they picked someone with a little more…. uh…. muscle mass…. To play HawkMan. He looks a little too scrawny.

  5. i love the show, but i wish they would bring supergirl back and why not introduce WONDER WOMAN. her time is way over due!

  6. I just watched tonight's episode – ultra cheesy dialog and the scene where Clark comes on the scene literally seconds after the assassin has left… and DOESN'T go after him (uh, super-speed, hello?) was really dumb.

As much as I think a superhero-filled episode has major cool potential, the previews I've seen make it look like it's going to be pretty cornball, unfortunately.

  7. I take no joy in saying this, but… the pics and promo reveal a really cheap and cheesy episode. Hawkman looks downright laughable. :-(

  8. Phil's last name is Morris! Sheesh! And yes the JSA outfits are awful.

  9. Looks pretty good,I just wonder why they didn't do this storyline years ago, instead of wasting time on Doomsday and the (non) arrival of Zod the first time around.

They should've spent more time on Bizzaro and then went straight into what they are doing this season.

  10. I'm with Vic on this. Good concept but really looks a bit cheesy. I know these are supposed to be retirees (like Watchmen) but really.. with those costumes… they HAD to retire. I'd rather costumes are dropped (like was done with Flash/Impulse and Cyborg) if it'll bring more credibility and seriousness to the show.

  11. It has been said they can't get the rights to Wonder Woman to allow her to appear in the show

  12. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????????????

  13. Gotta think of this as the dry run for the big budget movie.

  14. Looks like the screenshots I saw for the failed “Justice League” series they were going to do back in the day. :)

I can only assume Shanks got the Hawkman role because of his “Stargate SG-1″ years.

Still gonna watch though and it's the firstime I will have watched the show since it's move to Friday.

  15. THE FORMULA FOR MAJOR APPEAL IS SO SIMPLE….GIVE FANS WHAT THEY WANT..THIS SHOW CAME OUT OF THAT OC TEEN ANGST THING AND TURNED INTO SOMETHING EVERYONE REALLY WANTS TO SEE, SUPERHEROES..WHY? BCAUSE TIMES LIKE WHAT WE ARE IN NOW, WE NEED A SUPERHERO AND TRUST ME..YOU MAKE A SUPERHERO MOVIE AND YOUR GONNA MAKE MULAH….HONESTLLY THEY NEED TO MAKE THE NEXT STEP AND CHANGE THE NAME FROM SMALLVILLE TO METROPLOLIS, THINK OF ALL THE SUPERHEROES AND VILLAINS YOUD SEE IF THEY DID THAT ON THE REGULAR..PLUS, WELLING WOULD BE SUPERMAN.

  16. Yeah, well you know. They play around with this, see how that works dramatically. What tone works. Character this and that. They really have nothing to lose. Because it'll be different if or when they decide to get serious.

  17. This show got into Sinbad territory really fast. Good thing I stopped watching after Season 3.

  18. So excited! As a lifelong (female- take that boys!) Superman fan, I've been a bit disappointed with Smallville during a few of the previous seasons. This year has definitly made up for it. Clark is growing into his roll as the soon to be man of steel. The inclusion of various comicbook legends – The Legion, Green Arrow, etc., has been a huge improvement to the lackluster characters from previous seasons.
Looking forward to this movie event! Keep up the good work Smallville writers!

  19. THE SHOW HAS SURPASSED AWSOME WITH THAT EPISODE…BRAVO JEFF JOHNS…BRAVO!!!..

  20. I TOTALLY agree, Gunsmith! Major kudos to Geoff Johns for the writing and Tom Welling for directing!

  21. You've nailed it, felidawa! A HUGE improvement is right – how about a JSA prequel series?
