smallville season 9 Smallville: New Absolute Justice Clip & Poster

With the winter premiere of Smallville being moved and fans having to wait another week to see Steve Bacic as Archer (or in this case “The Dark Archer”), The CW was kind enough to release another clip and a beyond-awesome poster for the television movie event, “Absolute Justice,” to hold fans over until the show’s return. Are the poster and clip enough?

Oh yeah!

While the clip is only 30-seconds long, it does show a little more of the story we can expect to see and I don’t know how, but it’s made me even more excited for this. I really didn’t think it was possible for me to be even more excited for “Absolute Justice,” but I am. If the clip didn’t do it, the poster would have.

The poster, showing Dr. Fate, Stargirl, Green Arrow and Hawkman, is not only amazing, but an enormous step up from the lackluster Photoshop job that was done with the season 9 promo photos for Smallville (see header image above).

Oh, silly me, I forgot about the clip. Check it out below.

Uh-oh… what’s happened to the Justice Society? I’m not sure, but I have a feeling that someone named Wesley Dodds and his alter-ego rhyming with “randman” (Sandman) has something to do with it.

The poster? We’ve got that as well. Bam! Check it out.

I’m not one to get my hopes up, but I’m almost positive that “Absolute Justice” is going to be above and beyond the mess Superman Returns turned out to be. Does this possibly add a little more credence to my feeling that Tom Welling should be given a shot to play Superman in the movies?

What say you? Am I just fanboying it up or are the clip and poster really that great?

While the return of Smallville has been pushed back a week, “Absolute Justice” is still set to air February 5 @8PM.

  1. You are just fanboying it up.

  2. Tom has come a long way in his acting since the beginning of Smallville, he should be given the chance to play Superman in the movies.

  3. Cannot wait for this!!!!!!!!!!!

This season has been like watching a different show to the one I have cautiously enjoyed all these years, and Absolute Justice looks epic, I wonder exactly how they will handle the Green Lantern? Will we see him?

  4. Absolutely. I would have loved to see Tom playing Clark in the Green Lantern movie.

  5. Im sorry to say and dont go off on me…. I have never watched Smallville.. ever…. However I will watch this.

Not to keen on the “Neo” look. Although there were a few “black” Supes in the books I liked. Does this mean he is dark or has he always dressed like this? I know the back story on the costume and such.

I like Fates look. SS Girl is ok (thought she was always younger?) GA looks nice and well Hawkman… hmmm will have to see it but the clip made it look .. cheesy.

  6. No it doesnt mean he is dark or evil. Clark made this basic costume himself, it actualy looks like he sprayed the S on with paint.

The Green Arrow has been on Smallville for several years now, and he is easily the most fun character at the moment.

  7. Another season had pretty much been confirmewd by the network, and Welling has a contract for season 10.

  8. In most versions of the Superman mythos, Martha makes the traditional costume, and considering she is returning at the end of the season, maybe she give it to Clark then.

  9. i want that Artwork, WildCat & the Spectre looked amazing in it. and i'm dig'in all the Display case memorabilia. i wonder if they'll market Prop Replicas ?
hmm and ive been watch'in since day 1 . and i cant wait to see who the Green Lanturn is. i assume W/the GL movie obviously not Hal Jordan, so Maybe Kyle Rayner ? i hope its not guy gardner though.

  10. JSA shouldn't it be Alan Scott?

  11. The Green Lantern from the JSA was the original GL Alan Scott. In the clip above they mention CEO when looking at his lantern. Scott runs Gotham Broadcasting Company.

  12. ah My dear Aknot, you would be correct sir, but IMO:: assumeing the orignal JSA Disbanned or Whatever, i thought it would have been a diffrent GL.
my only reason for thinking this is because in said Clip above it has the large painting showing the JSA and i see a woman who looks alot like Black Canary, could be , could not, IDK. but i just assumed it would be a second generation thing.
if not then ur correct sir.
but yeah most likely alan scott.

  13. The clip was a nice teaser and this “Absolute Justice” is starting to look like a reward for all of us loyal fans who have stuck through the marginal seasons the last few years and looks like it will TOTALLY make up for the weak fight between Clark and Doomsday last season (seriously, a full season build up for a fight shorter than the clip posted above?) I can't wait for Feb. 5th and look forward to seeing the show continue.

  14. im aware sir. i Just assumed with the Impression i got FRom the Portrait in the Clip, w/Black canary in it , i assumed it was a 1st gen Black canary , Therefor i assumed (And let me stress the word “assumed”) there would be a 2nd Gen GL in Smallville Along with/ or after the Demise of Alan Scott.

  15. Yes I see that…. hmmm. I have it paused on her… reddish/blonde hair Black Costume.. however did Canary ever wear a mask? I thought her Clark Kent was a wig? Also I forget…. The Huntress was part of the JSA…. Which sehe looks more like? Maybe?

    Now I know I will watch it… :D

  16. Just my personal opinion but Tom Welling is the best superman since Christopher Reeve. Smallville has been great in the casting department and this year is no different. Tom should play in a superman movie since he looks and acts the part better than anyone since Christopher Reeve. Another example is Lex Luthor on Smallville. The older superman movies, tv shows, and cartoons Lex was never what I would consider a threat of any kind. You take Lex or Lional and they would kick any Lex's ass off any other version. Knowing that Martha and Perry White are coming back makes me really hope they give Smallville a 10th season.

  17. After reading some of that spoiler info I dont know if I want to watch it.. Seems like they are cramming a lot into 2 hours.

    Could be considered SPOILER information….

The characters appearing are not yet known and will rely on legal clearances, but Johns says the characters will be in their 40's and Jay Garrick and Alan Scott will not be appearing.

A man named Sylvester Pemberton tracks down Chloe (Allison Mack) and tells her he knows about her team of superheroes and needs their help. However, before he can explain who he is, he is attacked and killed by Icicle (guest star Wesley Macinnes). Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe's (Allison Mack) investigation leads Clark to the former headquarters of the Justice Society of America where he meets up with Nelson AKA Dr. Fate (guest star Brent Stait), Carter Hall AKA Hawkman (guest star Michael Shanks) and Courtney AKA Star Girl (guest star Britt Irvin). Courtney pleads with Hawkman and Dr. Fate to help her catch the killer that is targeting their group but they are reluctant to resume their duties as superheroes. Clark, John Jones (guest star Phil Morris), Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) and Chloe team up to help the JSA stop Icicle before he murders another member of the group. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) receives a package from a mysterious agency called Checkmate, run by Amanda Waller (guest star Pam Grier).

  18. Absolute Justice is being set up as the biggest Smallville event they've ever produced. I only hope its success seals another season for us.

  19. Clark is going through a dark period right now after what happened in the season 8 finale. But according to Geoff Johns the JSA will inspire him to go through a wardrobe change again. =)

  20. When is the next new episode?

  21. I dont know about anyone else but that litlle teaser footage gave me goosebumps. They did a great job making the JSA look Iconic in the clip

  22. Haha… Mr. Beckett. You're always once step ahead of me before I get a chance to write it.

  23. Next Friday, January 29

  24. Question for the Smallville fans – I just started watching the series from the first season (I'm renting the DVDs from Netflix). Are there key episodes I should watch from each season to get “up to speed” or should I just plan to watch all of them?

  25. You guys actually watch this stuff?

Comment system is still delayed on Email responses.

  26. I just want this to be something me and the fans have been waiting for i just hope they dont screw up the story or the characters please.

  27. Watch 'em all!
