For Smallville fans that have been wondering when this action-packed final season will being to slow down, the answer appears to be… not anytime soon.

While this week’s episode has Lois’s absentee family members, General Lane and Lucy Lane returning, there’s no doubt that fans of the series will be waiting with bated breath to see the Darkseid Elite finally coming together.

In the season 9 finale of Smallville, we caught a glimpse of Granny Goodness outside of Tess Mercer’s hospital room, but this iconic character has since been laying low in the series mythos. Fortunately, Granny Goodness makes her triumphant return in “Abandoned” – with a new cast member.

While Nancy Amelia Bell was originally cast as the ominous Granny Goodness (with only her hands showing), the part was eventually recast for the character’s big reveal. Replacing Bell as the former Apokolips inhabitant is the wonderful Christine Willes, who many will remember as the hilarious Delores Herbig (her big brown eyes) from the hit Showtime series Dead Like Me. With Granny Goodness, Glorious Godfrey and Desaad coming together, let’s hope that Darkseid’s plan begins to take shape soon.

Of course, Granny Goodness and the Darkseid Elite isn’t the only thing to be excited about. It appears that the Smallville producers dipped their hand into the DC archives once again, but this time they’re bringing out one of the Female Furies, Mad Harriet (played by Lindsay Hartley – wife of Justin “Green Arrow” Hartley). This insane villainess – who was raised by Granny Goodness – will fit in perfectly as Clark’s antagonist of the week and from the pictures, it looks like they’ve gone all-out on her energy claws.

Also making her Smallville premiere, albeit through video, is Teri Hatcher as Lois’ mom. If there’s only one worry to be had with this episode, it would be this. As fans now know, something that Lois’ mom tells her results in Lois running to Jor-El. Considering Jor-El doesn’t exactly treat his own son that well, there’s no doubt that Lois is probably going to regret her journey to the fortress.

Let’s just hope that when she leaves, it’s with all of her memories intact. This season has been far too great to resort to cheap story twists and mysterious “memory wipes.”

Preview

Lois (Erica Durance) finds a video made for her by her mother, Ella Lane (Hatcher), before she died. After watching the tape, Lois makes a drastic decision about her relationship with Clark (Tom Welling) that takes her to the Fortress, where she comes face to face with Jor-El and Lara. Meanwhile, Tess has a nightmare involving herself as a child and a music box. Upon awakening, she finds the music box in Luthor mansion and sets out to find out who planted it there. Clark accompanies her to an orphanage run by Granny Goodness (guest star Christine Willes) who may not have the young girls’ best intentions in mind. One of the young women living there, Harriet (guest star Hartley), finds Clark snooping around and decides to take matters into her own very sharp hands.

  1. Man I can’t wait to see Darkseid’s servans all together, I think it will be great and it clears up some answers for me.
How did the girl steal Freddy’s glove, I think he will be very upset.

  2. Damn. That woman looks HOT with that Krueger claw.

  3. @ Little Monster

You beat me to it,lol. Mad Harriet give Freddy a run for his money with those claws. Way the pictures looks, she holds her hand like Freddy would.

  4. Both ya i meant i shall say.

  5. kane should play darkseid!9ft tall is stupid for superman to fight.

    • He already played Titan in a season 6 episode…

  6. Prediction:: Lois asks them for permission to marry Clark.

    • Prediction #2: Clark marries Lois by (or in) the series finale.

    • Episode: “Harvest”

Clark looks at Lois and says, “You are the one.”

  7. Tess is Lex’s sister!

    • wa??? really??

      • There have been a few hints. And when Lionel (somehow returns?!) he’ll have something to tell Tess about her past. I think her trip to the orphanage might shed some light on thr subject too. Her past has always been a mystery.
Plus she has red hair, just like Lex.

  8. ahaha thats that chick from Passions/Days of our Lives. WTF?

  9. Superman vs Freddy vs Granny Goodness. Triple Threat for the World Title. Friday on Smallville.

  10. lol. You sure it isn’t Freddy’s daughter from the previous franchise possessed?

  11. I met Glen Jacobs {“Kane”} back in “o6 at Orlando sci-fi convention they were promoting Silent bight/it was weird because he was chatting away and had the most calm and soft demeanor .,the reality of acting hit me..but he would be a cool Darkseid..incidentally this ruined me watching the WWE forever lol

  12. How are they actually going to do Darkseid when it finally comes for him to be physically on the show? They don’t have the budget for CGI, so he will have to be a man in a suit.
And that could potentially work very well.
While the Doomsday story didn’t quite work out, as a creature the prosthetics weren’t that bad at all.
Hopefully they can get Michael Ironside to voice Darkseid like he did in the cartoon, he’s back as General Lane, so it’s possible.

    • DSB reading your comments just gets me all hyped up for when Clark suits up and takes off :)

    • I agree about Doomsday. I thought on a TV budget, it looked pretty darn good.

I think a Darksied suit could work too…

      • I do have a worry though, what if he never manifest physically? Knowing the budget constraints it’s certainly possible.
I hope that he does, I want to see Superman (not Clark!) take on Darkseid. The show can do great fight sequences, like when Clark battled Titan in season 6.

  13. doomsday could have worked with acouple of hits, but i believe it was held back because they did not want to upstage superman with clark out of the suit.doomsday could have been better if the actor was actually taller than clark by at least 7inches.

  14. Lois finds a video made for her by her mother, Ella Lane, before she died. After watching the tape, Lois makes a drastic decision about her relationship with Clark that takes her to the Fortress, where she comes face to face with Jor-El and Lara.
