Smallville To Kill Off Two Major Characters

Smallville has had us emotionally dancing over the last year. First, we had to wait and wonder if they were headed into a 9th season. Obviously (now), a new Smallville season is coming.
In conjunction with a 9th season given a green light, it’s been assumed that Tom Welling renewed his contract for that season, although it hasn’t been officially announced.
Unsubstantiated (someone said it, but provided no source or link) rumors say Welling signed a multi-year contract, but I can’t find anything to back that up. Better yet, let me take it one step further: We are presuming that Welling renewed his contract! Didn’t think of that one, did ya?
We’ve not seen any official announcement on a contract renewal between The CW and Welling, have we? The big question is: If for some wild and odd reason he didn’t renew, would the show go into a 9th season and how?
In a December ’08 TV Guide issue, they wrote that while the studio was pondering if there was going to be a 9th season, the producers were getting ready to pitch a spin-off starring Phil Morris, who plays Martian Manhunter. I wonder if they are still keeping that in the works?
But enough of messing with your head. The newest thing I have my fingers on is that we have a new scenario to ponder and we have a new guessing game for the Screen Rant readers to play.
The new game is what two characters in Smallville are going to die. They’ve been coined as pivotal characters and their deaths won’t be the kind where they keep coming back like we see in other shows. In Smallville, death is the end. That’s refreshing… and nerve wracking.
Additionally, the producers of the show, who have been developing a rather nice season so far, do have a few twists in store for us for their 9th season of Smallville on The CW.
Future Look at This Week’s Episode:
In the upcoming episode that my lead-in picture is from, we’ve got a desperate Linda Lake (Tori Spelling) trying to blackmail Clark into giving her a scoop on the mystery hero of Metropolis. She needs a boost to her career. Lake thinks she can blackmail Clark because she knows his secret. Clark refuses to let himself be blackmailed and does something else… well, you’ll see on March 12th – I can’t give everything away. Then where would be the fun and suspense of watching? But I gotta say, I hope it’s some sort of dream episode ’cause I don’t like where this episode goes if it’s not.
A gift for the fans:
No, that’s not Superdog Tom is walking! This is a candid image I found of Tom Welling out in public out on the net. Thought you’d like the eye candy. The dog is cool!

Around the web:

PLEASE TELL ME THEY ARE NOT KILLING CHLOE
My name is KRYPTO, Not superdog….
Lana is definately getting killed, Chloe could be the second.
At the moment, I have no details on who is being smite!
LOL: Sorry Krypto… that’s too funny.
I have my hunches… think about it gang… who would make the most sense that isn’t necessarily needed for furthering the series?
The two deaths will occur in the season finale and not the 9th season premiere. If it’s Clark, the show is over and the final 5 episodes would’ve been devoted to him, but they’re not. The two that will go are definitely Chloe and Davis because the final 5 episodes are focusing on them more than Clark.
Van Banoovong: Yes… you are right, though you drove me nuts thinking I said it took place in the 9th season premiere!!! I started scouring my article thinking I goofed!!
I can see where things add up to look that way, but no. The deaths do take place in the end of this season, season 8!
Chloe and Davis are going to died. Lana is not even on the show anymore
Obviously it is not going to be lana because she is in one of the super man movies the third I think even watch she is in it
It is goint to me tess mercer,Chloe,or even Davis a.k.a Doomsday
Not only will 2 people die in the 8th season finale, their deaths will stick forever.
Chloe because she’s not supposed to play a significant part of Superman’s history – remember the Legion had no recollection of her from their future?
Davis because Doomsday must bite the dust
Lana will not die as the girl from the Legion told her she has a bright and important future ahead of her on her own away from Clark.
About damn time! Please let it be Lana. Chloe, I could take or leave, but one thing is certain: Lana must die. Immediately.
The episode number for the 9th season premiere will be 175 and it’s ironic because Superman’s battle with Doomsday ended with issue #75 and had a rematch in #175. With that monumental number, we should see Clark battling Doomsday, Clark flying, the Justice League, and Chloe’s funeral if she is the one to die.
Chloe and Tess Mercer. Doomsday or Davis will die too. Now I know that he said only two will die and when someone dies they stay dead. Agreed. But villains die and come back constantly in the show. So Davis will die but will eventually return. Chloe and Tess will definitely be the ones to die. They have no role in the story ark of Superman. That is just my two cents.
I think its going to be Lois & Clark.
Either that or it will be Pete and Lex
No wait, even better, it’ll be Lionel Luthor and Jonathen Kent…
Def chloe. The other im not sure, but they did say show veterans, not in this article but i believe it was in ausiellos report. so yes davis could die to, because hes not a show vet. But whos going to be the vet next to chloe on death row?
I believe the various spoilers say a “long running”/”veteran” character is one of the ones to die. That would seem like Chloe, but after Lana’s awful arc, she would be better. The other would be a newbie, which leaves Davis and Tess. However they say there’s a “twist” and the twist could be that Davis dies, but Doomsday lives on.
As much as I would love to see it, Lana can’t die; she has too much history in the Superman universe. The article said pivotal characters, and I believe, like most, Chloe will bite the dust and probably Pete even though he hasn’t been a regular. I think it is a given that Doomsday will die but I’m not sure about Davis; they are in the same body but could be split through some quantum mechanism.
I would hate to see them kill of Chloe and leave the spectre of having Lana back on the show. PLEASE KILL OFF LANA!!
@Joe…as for Lana being in the Superman movies, that means NOTHING in the Smallville universe!!
I’m thinking that the producers have everyone thinking Chloe because that is the MOST obvious, but I think you see Pete come back and get killed along with Martha Kent.
It’s obvious that whoever is going to die will be davis bloome (not doomsday) and (I hate to say it because she such a good character in here) Chloe. She is the only other smallville vet left besides tom welling. Lana’s story has been wrapped and we ain’t never seeing her again. Lex is presumably dead (though we know he’s not) and…if you think some other person who left the show is going to come back and be killed, well do you have any info to back it up?
Kill Chloe ! Kill Chloe ! Kill Chloe !
they better NOT KILL OFF CHLOE
yeah, they’ll probably kill davis but doomsday will live. otherwise, i have now friggin idea who else would die though it’s probably chloe even though i don’t want her to. if she dies, tom better act the best he’s ever acted to show clark’s sadness, anger… etc.
PLEASE let Chloe die, she’s so boring!
its gotta be between lana and chloe im hoping lana. and it will defenatly be davis.
although iv heard some rumblings that to shake everything up lois might face the axe!!
If the kill off Chloe (who, sadly, IS the only logical choice) I’m done with this show.
it CANNOT be lana. Kristen Kreuk is off the show…done. THe last one she was in, was her last episode. Its been said many times already.
Chloe/Allison have a very large fanbase so I can’t see where they’d choose to cut her loose (unlike with Lex and Lana, where they had no choice.) Whatever Chloe’s place in Superman history is irrelevant because this is Smallville, not Superman, and Chloe’s place on THIS show can’t be replaced or killed off. She’s Clark’s best friend and his only confidant, she’s involved with an interacts with every other character and has a part in every storyline. Even if one doesn’t agree that she’s significat, she’s usually used as plot exposition that no one else can do. Doesn’t seem to me like they’re writing her off. Lois, on the other hand, has achieved everything her character needs and was written OUT of the penultimate episode this year and has no storyline at all, other than chasing the Red-Blue-Blur, whose existence has already been published. She only has four appearances out of the last 12 episodes. Smallville is its own story so I don’t believe “mythos” makes her safe. Lois is going to die, and I said it here first.
@Mariko
There’s no way they’re going to kill of Lois. She ends up with Clark for crying out loud – they can’t kill her character.
Vic
I ealy do not care kwho they kill of as long as my all time favorite actor, Tom Wellin still plays my all time favorite superhero Superman.-
