For the script,go to supermanhomepage.com,there is a menu to the top left corner of the site,in the menu you will find a category that reads “movies”,click “movies” and scroll to the bottom of that page and you’ll find a category that reads “aborted superman film scripts”, listed under it will be some of the scripts you mentioned and the Batman/Superman Asylum script and a review of it by Neal Bailey,a contibuter to the homepage and a friend of mine.

Where can I find the Batman vs. Superman script? I remember the excitement everyone felt when they announced it in 2002. Wolfgang Peterson wasn’t my first pick as director. When that was buried, he did Troy with Brad Pitt, after The Fountain was delayed a few years.

I’ve seen the Doomsday conept art and some of the other unused concept art for the movie,I like looking at that type of stuff.

The Superman/Batman Asylum script could have been better but it was OK,IMO. Better than Abrams script anyway……

I’m a Batman,Superman,JLA freak,so I try to keep up.

I was just asking if you knew of a site that carried any information on the budget of SR and kept track of the money they spent on the previous canceled Superman projects.

I picked up all that stuff from magazines and websites over the years. Tim Burton was to direct Superman with Nic Cage as Supes (and was paid $20 million, even after the movie was shelved) and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor for $5 million (which he kept, too; not sure if he got paid again for SR, but I’m guessing he did). This was 1998, when both this film and Hulk were canned.

JJ Abrams wrote a script when Akiva (Batman and Robin) Goldsman was brought in, crica 2000, to do a re-write. He was freaked out and pounded out a script. McG, Brett Ratner and McG again, were all attached to direct until it bombed out again.

I know a lot of movie trivia, trust me.

According to supermanhomepage.com,Singer had hoped to do another Superman with a 2009 release date. I wonder what’s up with that then.

And according to the Guiness book of world records,SR was the comic book movie with the biggest budget to date: 270 million dollars.

So what you said makes some sense then,not ALL the money was used specifically for SR but for other failed Superman projects. The “70 million” went into the failed projects,and the 200 million went into making SR,so the budget WASN’T as big as most people imagine it is.

Can you recommend any site that goes into detail and elaborates some on what exactly happened with the money for all these other Superman projects,Heath?

When the film hit $200 million in the US, Legendary Pictures, producer of many mega WB hits, said, let’s make the Man of Steel. The target date was, believe it or not, 2010.

Batman Begins (and The Dark Knight) cost $150 million.

It was NOT Routh’s fault that people didn’t like the movie,it was whomever said “let’s give him a bastard kid”s fault!! You don’t just throwaway the actor cuz the script had problems or the movie didn’t make the money you wanted it too!

Speaking of the B.O.,SR made more money than Batman Begins (SR:390 mil,BB:370),so logically,why WOULDN’T they do another Superman? But the problem is is that they had to spend 2 dollars to get 3 dollars back with SR,which gets them only a dollar back,right? And they had to spend only 1 dollar to get 3 dollars back for BB,so that’s why BB is condidered the more successful film,even tho it did not make AS much money as SR did.

And yes,to me,Routh IS Superman. SR wasn’t all that great,but it WASN’T Routh’s fault. He doesn’t need to be replaced.

Superhero Hype! is saying that the Justice League Superman actor will be in a separate Supes movie. Oh, well…I guess Superman Returns really IS toxic…I like Routh.

Now…Latino Review is claiming that Brandon Routh is 100% out as Superman. They’ve said that whoever plays Supes in JLA (assuming that film still happens) will in fact replace Routh in the SUPERMAN sequel MAN OF STEEL. They’re claiming Variety said such in their posting…which is crap.

What Variety said is what we’ve all known for months now. Brandon Routh won’t be Superman in the JLA film. But then again, Christian Bale won’t be in it either. And (by all accounts) the solo BATMAN film series is moving on. Hell WB has said Routh and Bale will continue as their characters in the solo films.

Until I hear something official outta WB and/or Singer’s camp, I’m not buying a word of this…

No WAY should they recast Routh in the next Superman film! BAD IDEA!! They aren’t gonna find a better guy then him for a LONGTIME. He was absolutely brilliant,I thought,as Clark/Superman. They wanna recast with a “younger” guy?! WTF?! As if Routh wasn’t young enough!! So now there will be Routh,Welling,JLA’s supes,and ANOTHER Superman for a new rebooted Superman film?!! WHAT THE HELL,MAN?!! It’s like frickin’ James Bond!! WB insiders said weeks ago that it was most likely that Routh would be back for another round as Superman whether the next Superman film was a reboot or not,or whether they had a new writer or director or not. So I have reason to believe that Routh’s supposed recasting is possibley false.

Any director who leaves a Superman project to make a movie about a gay activist needs to get their head examined. That’s all I’m sayin’.

So who is gonna direct the “revamped” Superman now?

This project will probably go into development hell now,sadly. I don’t want to wait 8 years before seeing another Superman film. This is just ridiculous. It’ll be DC’s version of the Hulk revamp. So….far….away. By the time they do another Superman,they’ll HAVE to recast Routh’s part.

And another thing,JLA’s supposed WW and GL John Stewart (rapper Common,damn dissapointin’ casting there,who’da thunk it?) are closer to their thirties in age,are we supposed to believe that they would cast a “youthful” Superman and Batman in their early twenties?! What the hell is this,Smallville JLA?!
Miller said that his film was on track and it was supposed to begin shooting on February 11th of this year,perhaps the strike will be over before then?

So if the next Superman ain’t happenin’ for sometime,and isn’t even gonna have Routh in it,then Routh is just sitting on his hands with no Superman project in his future at all!! Why doesn’t Miller just swallow his pride and cast Routh as Superman in JLA considering Routh won’t be Superman again anywhere else?!

As for Batman,good on ya!! I’m pleased with the title and that WB’s hangin’ on to Nolan.:-) If only Superman could get treatment like that.
