It’s been several years now since Edgar Wright shook off the debacle that was Ant-Man and announced that his next feature would be this summer’s Baby Driver. And while Wright fans were undoubtedly excited to hear that the man behind Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End is back, more than a few fans just wanted Wright to direct Simon Pegg and Nick Frost once again.

Almost four years on since Pegg and Frost starred together in Wright’s conclusion to The Cornetto Trilogy, The World’s End, many fans have repeatedly wished the two actors would join forces once again. Whether in a sequel to one of the Cornetto films, a new entry in the series or a brand new project altogether, people clearly love the comedic partnership of Pegg and Frost.

Well, it seems that fans of both actors are finally going to have their wish – at least in some capacity - granted. Thanks to JoBlo, details from a recent interview Nick Frost did with Inverse Entertainment have revealed that Frost and Pegg are currently in the process of working on a new project. Frost’s initial comments were vague, to say the least:

"Simon and I are working on something. We’re trying to do something a bit special at the moment. It’s a work in progress, and we may have some more information on it later in the year."

However, this was quickly backed up with more information – the sort that reveals to fans just what they might be able to expect from the comedic duo:

"I think I’d [want] to do something in the sci-fi world. Something a bit ghost hunter-y, or a bit Monster of the Week in a comedy. With two guys and a girl, it’s like the X-Files, but they’re not affiliated with any government agency."

And last but not least, Frost spoke about where both he and Pegg now find themselves in terms of their careers as well as how age and experience have changed the way he sees the creative process:

"We’re not Judd Apatow, we’re not J.J. Abrams, so there are still people who say, ‘I’d like to see this.’ You’re still made to jump through hoops. Everyone has a job to do and everyone has an opinion on everything. Writing Paul, Simon and I would always have a knee-jerk reaction to someone giving a note about something and think, “What do you f***ing know?” I think as you get older and you mature more, you realize, you know what? Listen to that note. It could be f***ing great, it could be worthwhile."

At present time there is no mention as to whether or not Edgar Wright will be involved or whether the project will be for film or television. On one hand it would be great to see Pegg and Frost get together for an original TV series – they were wonderful together in Spaced – but from the sounds of Frost’s all too brief synopsis, as well as the busy schedules of the two - it really seems like something that would work best as a film, with Edgar Wright on board.

The bottom line here of course, is that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost working together once again is spectacular news, even if it’s too early right now to know exactly what form their collaboration will take.
