I think the new Silent Hill game: Shattered Memories (Wii, PS2 & PSP) shows pretty good how to tell a great Silent Hill-story without relying on blood, splatter etc.
Wouldn´t mind seeing the next movie being a Mystery/Tragedy. Shattered Memories really convinced me that Silent Hill can still be Silent Hill without being overdose-sick (in a good way of course).

This is exactly what I was worried about and wrote on the other thread.

Not waiting for Avery, Gans is just a consultant at best and watering down Silent Hill for the general audience. That’s 3 GIANT steps to making this movie absolute garbage.

This really gets to me as a fan of the Silent Hill series. It’s not enough they ruined the last couple of games by targeting a broader audience, but now they’re doing the same with the movie? How can they be so obtuse? Why can’t they realize that the only reason that they have the freedom to go in these directions is because of the success of the original formula?

i dont see that happening, even if they change thier target.

silent hill (s) are freaking brutal. that kind of movie is always going to attract a small following.

i really liked the 1st

but the 1st was silent hill and it was brutal lol
like i said in the last post that burning part still itches at me.

to attract an audience of a greater volume
silent hill would have to not be very brutal
if thats the case then its not a true silent hill film.
then you risk losing everyone, even your small following.
im hoping they pull it off though.
maybe it can be the resident evil resident evil should have been.

I absolutely loved the first one and watched it repeatedly. Tons of atmosphere and great looking. I have been waiting for the sequel with baited breath.

Until now. This news makes me both sad, due to the fact that it will probably be dumbed down so much that it doesn’t even resemble the original story at all, and mad, as this could be an excellent franchise, but already after a long wait for the 2nd, they are planning to ruin it.

We will have to see, but it sounds like it will suck already.
