Are you one of the 1.5 million viewers that tuned in for the fourth season premiere of Dexter? Do you want more stories of your favorite serial killer, but tired of waiting between in week? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions above, then Showtime has something you just might like. Cue the announcement of their new animated web series, Dexter: Early Cuts, that will premiere Sunday, October 25 on

Presented in a similar styling to Warner Bros. recent motion comics, Dexter: Early Cuts will cover all new, never before told, stories from three of Dexter’s previous “victims.” The series will be total twelve episodes (one each week) with each victim receiving four, one to two minute episodes.

The people who will be the focus of Dexter’s justice have been announced as:

Alex Timmons – A corrupt Gulf War veteran recently acquitted of murder.

Gene Marshall – An arsonist.

Cindy Landon – A “black widow.”

The series will be narrated by Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall, written by series writer and producer, Lauren Gussis and Kyle Baker. Andres Vera Martinez and Ty Templeton will each illustrate one of the three story-arcs.

In addition to the stories of Dexter’s past “victims,” we will also learn more about how his serial killer techniques have evolved from then, when/why he began collecting slides and how he bought his infamous boat.

Check out the trailer below to get a sneak peek at Dexter’s first target, Alex Timmons.

I love this show and I’m looking forward to hearing more stories from the world of Dexter. I’ve been watching the motion comics Warner Bros. has put out and I’ve really enjoyed their ability to tell a story in a new and different way. Although, I’m not sure I’ll have enough patience to keep checking in each week for only a one to two minute clip. Showtime has spoiled me with 54 minute, commercial free Dexter episodes for three years, so I think it’ll be something that I either watch when the entire twelve week run is over or every four weeks, as each story completes. Actually, it’s entirely possible that I might completely forget about them and it’ll end up being a nice surprise when I purchase the season four DVD set.

I’m glad that Showtime has gotten behind Dexter and is doing more to promote the show and while I still have a bad taste in my mouth over what happened to Dead Like Me, the way they’re treating Dexter has me warming to them.

Still… I’ll never forget.

  1. Can’t wait. More Dexter is always welcome, hopefully this will be a lead into some proper comics or graphic novels.

  2. I don’t know, Dead Like Me kind of got old after a few episodes. I never really warmed to it. But that’s just me. But Dexter, I’ve seene very episode from the first 3 seasons so far. Don’t have Showtime so I have to wait until they come out on DVD for me to buy them and watch them… Great show, still wondering if I can be an extra on one of their exterior beach shots that they do on Miami beach sometimes, actually some are Fort Lauderdale beach that I’ve seen, lol. They have this wall between the beach and sidewalk that’s very distinct in design, but I guess they didn’t think a lot of Floridians would watch it and go “hey, that’s Fort Lauderdale, not Miami!” Or those who recognize some exterior shots to not be Florida at all, lol.

  3. it looks pretty cool so im probably gonna check it out (well what is written). btw the trailer isnt viewable. just stands the link or whatever. or well thats what i see:p

  4. Sorry, video is fixed.

  5. Exciting. Gene Marshall and Cindy Landon are briefly mentioned in the 1st series when Dexter is having a flashback, right? I can’t get enough of this series.

  6. I’ve got 11 episodes downloaded and ready to watch. Just finished watching the 4th episode. Apart from a few initial quarms I had with the first few episodes, I think this season is a corker and can’t wait to see what happens to the fbi guy and his sis after they have been shot.
