I would’ve liked LaBeouf in the role, but a good replacement? Joseph Gordon-Levitt. His profile is rising now that he’s got G.I. Joe and Inception coming up, so the timing would be good to give him a lead role.

I agree, it is more over-exposure than any talent issues. He respects the role, so I’m willing to throw a little respect his way.

I enjoy most of Shia’s work. But then, I am a guy who has a similar sense of humor to the characters he plays.

I personally like the guy. I would have liked to see him in the movie.

But you know what? Good for Shia, He knows whats up.

And Sure he plays the same character in all of his movies, but so do a bunch of other likable actors.

All the hate people have from him just stems from Jealously in my opinion. They are angry that an average unremarkable guy gets famous and successful (secretly wishing it was them instead).

I have nothing against Shia, and after seeing Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I started to warm to the idea of him in the role of Yorick. However, I was never really excited about the prospect, so I can’t say I’m shaken up over this news.

Still, I can’t help worry that without a lead or finished script being announced several years into the film’s development (and with Caruso saying he wanted to start filming last autumn), we’re getting closer to development hell with the Y movie.

I know mostly everyone here hates Shia, but I don’t mind him. Battle of Shaker Heights, Holes, Constantine, even Disturbia, he plays it straight.
I think the problem is that he’s just associated with the current “stars” whom everybody hates and rightfully so.
