Hogwarts School itself, on sabbatical from that castle of mystical education and hub of Quidditch competition and here with us to administer to you a mental grilling to match the one you get every time you step outdoors or into your car in this unspeakable season we call summer. ,

Perfect post for a great Breast Blog. ,
  • When I heard RDJr. was signing on to play Sherlock Holmes, I was thrilled. Now that I've seen the trailer? I'm even more psyched. I don't think there's any danger of Ritchie turning Holmes into a hero, either, simply because of the actor Ritchie's picked to play this iconic character. Downey Jr. has this snarky, bruised quality that he can't shake, even when he's playing a classic hero like Iron Man. That quality is what gives his roles their humor and vulnerability. No one does that combo like Downey Jr., so I have no doubts he'll give Sherlock a makeover we'll never forget.

not sure if this has been brought up but the nit picker i am saw an editing goof in between the 2 trailers at 1:59 mark of this trailer when the two figures are being blasted back from the explosion i noticed from the other trailer that in the other trailer there is only 1 person getting blasted back(im guessing Holmes).... Just thought id shoot that bullet in the air and see where it came down.

Did you folks notice that too?

Overall this will be on my watch list for whenever it came out :)

As a teenager, I used to read Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was one of my favorite authores. Even today, I use much of his theories of deduction in both my work and writing careers. I lived for the "resolve," when Holmes would detail how he solved each crime. I'm friends with a police officer who is amazed at how observant I am, based on reading the Holmes series! (He'd be shocked to know that I'm not that clever all on my own!)

The trailer for the movie was great and I love Robert Downey, Jr. I will definitely be seeing the movie. However, I sincerely hope that Ritchie will resist the urge to make Sherlock Holmes a superhero. He was not. Sherlock was inspired by one of Doyles' teachers in medical school, Dr. Joseph Bell, who was a master at observation, logic, deduction, and diagnosis. I sincerely hope that Ritchie will no aggrandize Holmes to the point of losing his simplistic charm.

Guy Ritchie doing Sherlock Holmes ? Let's hope it's not another Swept Away, I assume Madonna is not in it. Sherlock Holmes doing kung-fu ? Funny. I hope is good though, but I'll wait for some reviews first before going to the cinema.

Looks very interesting....Can't wait to see this one...

Considering the number of British, Australian and New Zealander actors playing American-accented characters here, I think that this will be OK. I just think that it is fascinating casting and look forward to what Downey does with the role. I've already heard his various British accents in "Restoration" and "Chaplin."

While I think it's cool that they're making a sherlock holmes movie, the fact that the main character himself isn't British makes me a little sad. I mean, this is a classic British character and America is taking him and throwing him into an action-packed movie without even his trusty brown duster. I'll probably see it, but chances are I won't be too happy.
  • Stu Shiffman
They probably won't show Holmes smoking cigarettes either, as he did in the stories.

Please inform Mr. Downey that Sherlock was a cocaine addict, not an opium addict, and he kicked the habit in Sir Arthur's books.

It looks good...Ive read a fair amount of Holmes and really looking forward to a different take on it...we've all seen the long coat and deerstalker...both RDJ and Jude Law seem to look at ease in their roles

looks great but what else is new it has RDJ in it

I hope this story is slanted more toward Doctor Who then Masterpiece Theatre...

They made a sequel to LXG?

Loos really cool. No way I'm missing it. But, isn't Rachel McAdams too young for Downey? Just sayin'

I'm soooooo totally in!!!!! The trailer was wonderful and the fact that they got RDJ to do it makes it even sweeter. I've always thought it was one of the best actors of his generation. Look at what he did in Chaplin... probably one of my favorites of his.

He's very versitile... drama and comedy are definitely his strong suits and recently action has been added to the list.

As soon as I saw Rachel McAdams, that sold me.

It actually does look like it will be very entertaining, and aside from Revolver, what more would anyone expect from Guy Ritchie?(notice I didn't even bother mentioning that movie with Madonna)

Sherlock Holmes:His depravity knows no bounds!
    LOVE it!
  • Andy S
This definitely looks like a must-see movie. RDJ is looking like he can do no wrong now!

i am quite pleasantly surprised by this trailer. i thought that this movie would simply be a film to pass the time, as i thought of iron man after i saw it, but this looks spectacular. unlike The Road, i think this film is cast splendidly. the whole trailer had me excited. looking forward to this one.

Looks good but it's NOT Sherlock Holmes. Not remotely so. Jeremy Bret is Sherlock Holmes, this is a very cool quirkey late Victorian Age heroic Detective - buddy - cop - thriller- action- dramedy- film. Just not Sherlock Holmes
  • Stu Shiffman
Oh boy, Rachel McAdams as an adventuress! She's great and I look forward to seeing her up against (so to speak) Downey's Holmes. It looks like the film will call upon Holmes's stated prowess with sword, pugilism, singlestick and bartitsu (a form of ju-jitsu and mentioned in "The Adventure of the Empty House" as being what Holmes used against Moriarty at Reichenbach. It was devised by Edward William Barton-Wright, a British engineer who had spent the previous three years living in the Empire of Japan, who returned to England in 1898 and announced the formation of a "New Art of Self Defence" and named it for himself. This looks down and dirty and very entertaining, even for an old Sherlockian like myself.

Hey, sorry about that bud! Forgot to add a little snippet of code that pushes the trailer down below the ad.

It looks like I'll end up throwing things at the screen as was the case during Beowulf.

Oh god this just looks fantastic! I will certainly go see it. Robert Downey Jr. is a fantastic and a gifted actor. They don't come much better. My children and myself especially loved the hammer throwing bit. We all can't wait till Christmas!!!!
