I respect Brad Pitt as an actor, but I just CAN'T see him as Moriarty!

Though, I checked the imbd page today and his name is on the list for the character.
I really hope it's all rumor. I was hoping for somebody like Alan Rickman!

No ofence but I really don´t see pitt been a good Moriarty, I like him in Gloryless Bastards but I will prefer soooooo much if the character of Moriarty were interpreted by Hugh Lauri, I mean he basicaly interprets the medical version of Holmes and mean, arrogant, intelligent, etc. Well is just my fantasi.

moriarty - "the napolean of crime!", i love this character - he is the most dynamic and epic villain of all time, intimidating, terrifyingly intelligent, manipulative and ingenious, im surprised they didnt use him in number 1!.
im not sure about pitt - he is a good actor and im sure it will be great- if he decides to do it, but i would hate if he didnt do this character justice. other actors i would like to see take on the role - i agree with sheryl and think gary oldman would be FANTASTIC, but i would LOVE alan rickman to do it - BEST VILLAIN ACTOR EVER!!!!!!!!!

In the words of Aldo Raine: "Yes yes yes yes yes!"

this is a complete waste of money and the film will lose money because nobody care's and eventually people will start walking out of the theatre cursing and complaining oh my god what a boring movie.

12 Monkeys made a Pitt fan out of me as well as Interview With A Vampire. I think he could put a new twist on the character.

I would definitely LOVE to see Gary Oldman do it. He's amazing, and underrated. (not even ONE Oscar nomination!)

this has buggin me for a while I think the movie opening dec 25 is a mistake because Avatar opens the weekend before, because i think cameron might have a repeat of titanic on his hands in terms of boxoffice.

Well, the first movie will be a huge success (look who's playing the 2 lead roles) and I'm not surprised in the least that a sequel is planned. There are many haters for Pitt out there but I think the man is a very good actor; of course, Sheryl has mentioned great actors as well, and I'd like to add Johnny Depp to that list.

To answer the question as to who would be better, I've seen it suggested that Gary Oldman, Russell Crowe, or even Cillian Murphy would be good choices. I'm okay with any of them.

A great big no to Brad Pitt. Sorry, I don't think he's interesting enough to play villain in this. I just want a good film, and somehow the thought of Brad added for "marketing" (ugh) really cheapens. There are far more interesting actors out there to fill the role and do it well. I hope this is either an ugly rumor or Ritchie/execs come to their senses.

I think the movie will be good and I think greenlighting a sequel is a good idea. Pitt is a good actor and sly and pretentious liek personality woudl fit right into a sequel. Plus adding Pitt will add more money at teh box office. Nevertheless I really do think that the first Holmes movie will be at least good if not great and I am looking forward to it
