I have no problem with the Rock as Black Adam, but as Captain Marvel, no. The best bet is an unknown for Cap. Getting unknowns for these roles has always worked out the best.

Indeed Geoff Johns knows his DC super heroes. Of primary interest is that Black Adam, one of his best-written characters, will most likely now be a prominent star in the movie with Johns’ involvement. They are going to have to be careful that Teth-Adam doesn’t steal the show from Cap Marvel, which he easily could as he’s more of a Punisher-like vigilante than a villain.

It somewhat sucks that they still can’t retain the rights to call this movie Captain Marvel instead of Shazam! – but ah well.

Either way, the movie is still in better hands now that Geoff Johns is on it. He really is an encyclopedia of DC characters – and a textbook of how to write them right. The Flash movie is probably in even better hands because Geoff Johns truly does love that character, whereas I’m not so sure on Captain Marvel. But we’ll see.

I say yes to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Captain Marvel. He’s shown his acting range. And deserves to be the hero, not the villain. Maybe I’ll write an article about it. “The Power or Shazam. The Best Comic Movie Ever?” Sounds good to me

Now this is the one film where i definately endorse the Rock in the lead. Every movie rumored that needs a musclehead star; many parrot the Rock. Judging by the fact that thespian and 57 yr old Stephen Lang is juiced up and huge like old school Arnold in Avatar, hollywood odes not need a big goofy Wrestler to play every superhero. But the Rock with his big smile that looks just like the Alex Ross poster would be perfect here. NOT Superman, NOT Conan, but Captain Marvel, YES! And Marvel may end up being the best Superhero film of them all.

I agree with ya wes. Two people only come to mind to me of who could play Capt. Marvel. 1. Dean Cain but people will probly still see him as Superman. 2. Jerry O’Connell, hope i spelled his last name right. He’d be my 2nd choice probly because he sure did sound like Capt. Marvel would have on JLU. LoL, in that episode he sure was more of a boyscout than Superman was.

Anyone else think that this is a reaction to all the Superman stuff going on lately? Lets say they lose all rights to Supes in 2013, who will be their big all powerful kick @$$ character? One would think Captain Marvel here would be the 1st in line. Maybe thats why they are pushing his movie ahead now? Just a thought.
