Spike has a released a clip for the season 2 premiere of The Shannara Chronicles. The clip depicts a heated battle between Allanon (Manu Bennett) and Bandon (Marcus Vanco).

Based on the fantasy novel series Shannara by Terry Brooks, The Shannara Chronicles premiered in January of last year on MTV and ran for ten episodes. The first season, which focused on events from Elfstones of Shannara (the second book in the series), centered on protagonists Will (Austin Butler) and Amberlee (Poppy Drayton) who are on a quest to save an ancient tree known as the Ellcrys from evil demon called the Dagda Mor. MTV renewed the show for a second season but due to budget concerns, the series was relocated to Spike.

A new clip for the season 2 premiere, "Druid", has been released. The clip gives fans a tease of the action featured in the show's second season. During the clip, we get to see Allanon confronting Bandon over his decision to resurrect the Warlock Lord. Their conversation indicates a considerable time jump since the season 1 finale. After a war of words, the two clash in a battle of steel-on-steel. The fight escalates until magic comes into play. Bandon eventually relies on his followers to help him deal with Allanon. The clip ends with the resurrected Warlock Lord blasting Allanon through a window.

What this clip tells us is that Bandon and the Warlock Lord are shaping up to be the "Big Bads" of season 2. The Warlock Lord was the main antagonist in the first book of the series, Sword of Shannara. The Warlock Lord was an evil Druid whose plans were thwarted by Shea, Will's grandfather. It's possible that season 2 will explore Shea's history with the Warlock Lord in greater detail.

The clip also recaps several major events that took place during The Shannara Chronicles season 1, including Amberlee's sacrifice. Amberlee became the new Ellcrys, meaning that the character isn't likely to return for anything other than a flashback during season 2. Bandon turned to the dark side after taking up the Warlock Sword and being manipulated by the Dagda Mor. His relationship with Catania (Brooke Williams) deteriorated after he betrayed her when she tried to help him escape the palace dungeon.
