A new Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer is here. With theaters starting to reopen in time for the summer blockbuster season, Marvel Studios is also starting to actively promote their upcoming big screen offerings. Following Cate Shortland and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, which is tipped to release this July, it will be followed by Destin Cretton and Simu Liu's aforementioned project.

The first Marvel Studios endeavor to feature a predominantly Asian cast, there's a lot of things to be excited about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Aside from upholding the franchise's commitment to diversifying its talent roster both in front and behind the camera, the fact that it will introduce a brand new hero in the universe in itself is exciting. Aside from that, the movie will also debut the real Mandarin, named Wenwu, following the fake-out in Iron Man 3 which proved to be divisive for fans. Its narrative offers a fresh dynamic when it came to father and son as it will see Shang-Chi inevitably going up against his dad in an effort to do good.

As promised by the previously released teaser clip earlier today, the new Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer debuted during NBA Countdown on ESPN. The new trailer delivers on the action and includes a couple of revelations. Watch the full trailer from Marvel Studios below:

There are several takeaways from the almost two-minute clip, including the introduction of Michelle Yeoh's character named Jiang Nan. Based on her interaction with Shang-Chi, she appears to be a mentor-type to the character; she also seems to know both his parents. Aside from emotional and psychological support, she has her own abilities and fighting skills — something that she could also impart on the hero as he grapples with his identity and association with Wenwu. Another massive reveal from the latest Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' latest trailer is the return of Abomination from The Incredible Hulk. In his brief appearance, he is engaged in an underground cage fight against a sorcerer.

As for the movie's overall story, this fresh clip offers a better idea about the dynamic between Shang-Chi and Wenwu. The titular hero is clearly repulsive of his father's ways and wants no business inheriting the Ten Rings, just like the Mandarin wanted. But, his personal dilemma lies in whether he simply walks away from the chaos or takes a more active role in battling Wenwu and his minions. The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer ends with a one-on-one with the father and son in what appears to be the movie's final action set piece.
