Two gaming giants are set to collide as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy XV are set for an exciting new crossover.

The world of Lara Croft has been doing well since the title was officially rebooted back in 2013. The upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set to conclude that storyline, and it sounds like Final Fantasy XV could be there to lend a hand as well. It might seem like an odd crossover to come up with, with something like bringing Drake from Uncharted into Lara's world might seem like a more sensible idea to bring to life.

With Croft possibly swapping tombs for dungeons, IGN reveals that Square Enix is working on some sort of collaboration between the two games. A brief teaser was shown at PAX East, saying a reveal is "coming soon." Final Fantasy XV seems that it will never end as Square Enix revealed the updates and DLCs that will take the game through to the end of 2019. Square Enix may already have enough on its plate, but the impending crossover will hopefully get everyone talking.

Final Fantasy XV Tomb Raider

Final Fantasy XV is no stranger to crossovers. Previously, Final Fantasy hosted the Assassin's Festival to celebrate Assassin's Creed: Origins with exclusive content and unique costumes. However, it wasn't quite as memorable as the studio hoped for. Final Fantasy XV also celebrated its PC release by rolling out some unusual Half-Life and Sims 4 skins. But with Square Enix owning the two huge titles of Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy, gamers are hoping for something even bigger this time around.

Eidos Montreal is currently working on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which will take Lara to Mexico. The game has been in development since 2015, and although little else is known about where Shadow will take gamers, there has already been a brief teaser. More is expected to become clear when the game drops a full reveal on April 27. With Shadow of the Tomb Raider releasing in September, there's plenty of time for Final Fantasy fans to get excited about the crossover. As for what to expect, consider everyone stumped. Surely it will be more than just suiting up Lunafreya in a Lara Croft-esque tank top.

The most popular option for what is coming seems to be a DLC for both games that would see the character cross into each other's worlds (albeit briefly). Considering that Final Fantasy XV was criticized for gaps in the story and its overall main campaign, Square Enix is certainly trying to make up for it now. And with the title having already sold millions of copies, here's hoping Lara Croft can help the studio sell some more with Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
