Speaking as a woman I’m a little annoyed at your sexism. ok yeah more than a little annoyed. Granted the world could probably do with one less badly written chick flick… but I would rather have Sex and the City which is undeniably at least well written and puts women in a position of power… than some crap shopaholic that puts women in a weak pathetic position. It would be nice to hear comments on the movie not on women being… “crazy”… k thanks.

My girlfriend, a long-time SATC fan didn’t like the movie, and I felt it was bland. My old Media Criticism class showed the first and last episode… Talk about going from edgy to bland! I’m not the biggest fan but I respect shows and movies that don’t just target guys like me, who like Iron Man, etc.

Joshua Saval says:

My girlfriend loves this show and kind of made me watch all six seasons and see the movie, and I was able to survive. As a movie lover and also writer of a blog, I consider “Sex and the City” to be at least superior to other films for women such as “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “27 Dresses,” and “Bride Wars.”
It seems that most recent films for women make them seem crazy and/or obsessed with wedding/sex/love.
“Sex and the City” falls prey to this (especially in the movie), but it is WAY better written than other chick flicks. I can only hope the same for the sequel since I already know I will have to see it when it comes out.

The Rake says:

The women that I have heard from who had seen the movie and followed the series are staunchly AGAINST another film. I used to work at HBO and it was a huge property while I was there so there is no doubt it is a strict financial move. Even the gals were so reluctant to get on board the first time, this is indeed depressing news.

David Hasselbach says:

My wife didn’t watch the show.
I did … just a couple of epidsodes, but I did.

Then we watched the film together and it was better that we anticipated.

Should there be another one?
Storywise … I don’t think so.

Will there be another one?
Definitely.

And @D-E-D-P-O-O-L

I think the SITC women are more than a bit psychotic and clichéd, but you’re right, at least the writers give them some power and personality that other examples of that “genre” lack severely.

Remember!! ohh ally mcbeal…
