Netflix's Sex Education is quirky, beautifully written, and a binge-worthy show. As the title suggests, the series is centered around Otis, an introvert, who has deep knowledge regarding sensual activities, thanks to his mom being a sex therapist.

So, when the students start to face regular problems in the sex department, Otis, with the help of Maeve, opens up an illegal sex clinic in the school. As in any teen show, there are a lot of characters in this series, ranging from bullies to sweethearts. Without further ado, let's take a look at the five most likeable characters from Sex Education and five fans can't stand.

Can't Stand: Adam

Adam Groff is the son of the headmaster Mr. Groff and in season 1, he acts like a bully of the school. He beats up Eric regularly and calls him names, which is something that makes the viewers hate him. He develops an attraction for Eric but he doesn't want to admit it.

In season 2, when Adam returns from military school, he acts a little bit differently. He becomes more mature and forms a friendship with Ola. Even though he is more likeable in season 2, no one can forget his antics at the start of the series.

Like: Aimee

Aimee Gibbs is a very unique character in the series. She is rich and a part of The Untouchables but she never behaves like a snob. Instead, she seems very nice and is always in a relationship. Her friendship with Maeve is brilliant to watch as they share particularly good chemistry.

When she is sexually assaulted in season 2, Aimee becomes quite disjointed from the school. But with the help of her friends, she is able to put her demons to rest.

Can't Stand: Anwar

Anwar

Anwar is another rich kid who isn't ashamed of being gay, unlike Adam. But he is quite bad at conversations as the viewers find him saying rude and abusive things to almost anyone.

He likes the new kid around the block, that is Rahim but he never gets attention from him. This isn't good for his self-confidence but one thinks he deserves it for the way he acts around everyone.

Like: Ola

Ola

Ola is an incredibly smart girl, whose father Jakob is dating Jean (Otis' mother). That's how she first gets to know Otis and later, she develops feelings for him. Their relationship always seemed quite awkward and in the end, Ola leaves him for Lily and rightfully so.

She also forms a good friendship with Adam and although she hates Maeve for being too close to her boyfriend, after leaving Otis, she befriends her as well. Ola has extremely high grades too and seems very mature.

Can't Stand: Jean

Otis' independent mother, Jean Milburn is a sex therapist, who herself doesn't like long-term relationships. She is, sometimes, too frank to Otis and almost always talks to him about his sex life, when her son doesn't want to.

She is too persistent and wants to know everything about Otis' love life. In season 2, though, she does form a relationship with Jakob. Towards the end, she finds out that she is pregnant and also perimenopausal.

Like: Eric

Eric Effiong is Otis' best friend and one of the most complex characters in the series. He is gay and very open about it. He adds a certain comic relief to the show, although it, sometimes, comes at the cost of him being embarrassed. Eric comes from a religious family and that's why he can't be too open about his sex life.

He forms a relationship with Rahim in season 2 and although they look good with each other, sometimes, they are on different wavelengths. In the end, Eric's feelings for Adam come to the fore and Rahim leaves disappointed.

Can't Stand: Mr. Groff

Mr. Groff in Sex Education

Michael Groff is the headmaster of the Moordale Secondary School. He is Adam's father and very strict about everything, sometimes too much. He doesn't like his son because of his low grades and reputation in the school. Michael isn't very close to his wife Maureen as they do not seem to share good chemistry.

The way he acts, it looks like he hates teenagers and he isn't very good at handling them, which explains his failure at being a father.

Like: Maeve

Maeve Wiley is one of the most compelling characters in Sex Education. She lives in a trailer park and was brought up by her brother Sean. Her father left them, while their mother was caught for dealing with drugs. Even Sean leaves Maeve, which means she has to come with the money in order to sustain her life.

She is in a relationship with Jackson in season 1 but their romance ends quite bitterly as Maeve develops feelings for her friend Otis. But they don't end up together and stick to having a professional relationship (running the sex therapy clinic together). Still, it only seems to be a matter of time before they fall for each other.

Can't Stand: Isaac

Isaac is introduced in the series when he and his brother become the newest residents of the caravan park, where Maeve lives. He is disabled but still has a very positive outlook on life, although he doesn't trust people easily. He earns the trust of Maeve and they seemingly become friends.

But towards the end of season 2, he does the worst thing a character can. He sneaks up on Maeve's phone in her absence and deletes a voice-mail from Otis, in which he reveals her love for Maeve.

Like: Otis

Otis in a red and white jacket

Otis Milburn is the one around who this whole series revolves. He is an awkward teenager, who seems socially inept and is frustrated by her mother's interference in his personal and sexual life. Despite that, he isn't one for complaining as he always seems to get on with his life.

He is knowledgeable and his popularity in the school sees an upward shift when he begins the sex therapy clinic. Otis has feelings for Maeve, but he just can't admit it.
