A popular meme has gone viral via various social media channels online, reaching a tipping point this week comparing the cast of Selling Sunset, the popular reality TV show that was recently picked up for a third season by Netflix, to the cast of enduring teen comedy classic, Mean Girls.

Selling Sunset follows the trials and tribulations of the elite real estate brokers at The Oppenheim Group as they attempt to sell the luxe life to affluent buyers in Los Angeles. Maybe the popular teen comedy starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams wouldn't be your first thought. But the drama quickly ramps up when a new agent joins the team. If this sounds to you like the premise of the popular teen comedy, Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan and written by Tina Fey, well, you're not alone. Let's further breakdown how this popular meme below.

The comparison has been making the rounds on various media platforms, including Reddit. But the details are pretty similar. Let's start with the obvious comparison... Christine Quinn, whose Instagram boasts 283 thousand followers, is clearly "A total bully and queen bee" as one Reddit user, ThePhoenixBlue, put it. The user goes on to elaborate, "She is drop dead gorgeous with an epic wardrobe, her trash talk is praised by fans as 'telling it like it is.' Hot body? [Check] High Status Man-candy? [Check] Army of Skanks? [Check]. But the Mean Girls comparisons don't end here." This seems to be the general consensus on Twitter too, check out the by side posts created by this Twitter user (@kykrebs) below:

Of course, the biggest source of drama surrounding Selling Sunset focuses on the aftermath that unravels following a new agent joining their team. That new agent is none other than Chrishell Stause, who fils the role of Cady played by Lindsay Lohan in this Mean Girls equation, or as the Reddit user put it, "Cady - The new girl who can hold her own and has all the makings of being the next most popular girl in 'school.' She may say some shady things, but is really nice at heart."

In the same Reddit user's mind, Davina Potrazt is Gretchen: "The queen bee's number two. She only lives to keep people in line after they have been picked apart by Christine, 'Like I know she's mean but please invite her to hangout anyway.'" Check out the side by side pics (via @kykrebs) below:

On a more positive note, Mary Fitzgerald fills the role of the iconoclastic Janis. The history even lines up, the Reddit user explained, "She used to be Christine's best friend until she was screwed over by her, so now she just wants to take her down a notch." Heather Rae Young on the other hand is Karen "another Christine wannabe and also completely naive when she says anything. I mean can you read the room of hardworking real moms when you're talking about being a long distance fake stepmom with a nanny?" Ouch.

Of course, what makes Mean Girls such an enduring classic as well as a successful musical as well, is it's well-defined character types. The Mean Girls archetypes have been applied to many other reality shows in the past which have gone viral (See Keeping Up With Kardashians means), but maybe none before has been such a perfect fit as Selling Sunset.
