The U.S. haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but that won't stop the onslaught of holiday themed commercials, trailers, posters...anything, really. As if we needed another reminder that Christmas will soon be upon us, a new festive-themed trailer for The Secret Life of Pets has dropped online and can be watched, above.

The Secret Life of Pets is a new animated comedy from Illumination Entertainment, the same company that brought us Despicable Me 1 & 2 as well as, of course, the Minions movie. While we might all have had our fill of the little yellow creatures, there's no doubt Illumination hit the jackpot with its previous creations - and the studio might just have done it again with The Secret Life of Pets.

Based on the premise that all pet owners want to know what their fur-babies really get up to when they're away, The Secret Life of Pets taps into the heart of those animal lovers who will happily spend hours online searching for posts of cats stuck in ridiculous places, or dogs being shamed with notes from their owners.

Illumination have returned to tried and tested writers and directors for this movie. Chris Renaud serves as co-director, having previously directed both Despicable Me films, alongside Yarrow Cheney, making his directorial debut as co-director after serving as a production designer on the Despicable Me movie franchise. Meanwhile, the Secret Life of Pets script comes from Brian Lynch (writer of Minions), as well as Despicable Me 1 & 2 scribes Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

The Secret Life of Pets also pulls in an impressive voice cast that includes comedian Louis C.K., Kevin Hart (Ride Along), and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) along with Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Lake Bell (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), Albert Brooks (Finding Nemo), and Hannibal Buress (Broad City).

While this trailer bears little to no relevance to the plot of the film itself (it's unlikely this scene will feature), it follows up the previous trailer well in terms of hilarity, indeed, anyone who has ever tried to get their pet to sit still for a photo will instantly relate to it. Watch out for the cat's reaction to the bone being offered and the guinea pig 'liking' the picture at the end. This is a very welcome holiday themed trailer which does a great job of showcasing the movie's starring creatures. If The Secret Life of Pets is a funny as this trailer and the one which preceded it, Illumination is indeed onto another winner.

The Secret Life of Pets will be released in U.S. theaters on July 8th, 2016.
