Sea of Thieves recently introduced an update to the game that brought along the addition of a crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean. A Pirate's Life is the newest expansion to the pirating adventure game, filled with many recognizable cameos from the film series. The crossover blends together well, as the cartoonish sailing-adventure game has never felt too far from the good-natured Disney pirate movies, and it's no surprise that Jack Sparrow fits right into a game about sailing thieves.

Sea of Thieves has been available to play since 2018, but has not attempted any ambitious collaborations until this most recent update. A Pirates of the Caribbean crossover event seems like an obvious choice, though it isn't always easy obtaining the right licenses for such content. Companies are often protective of their intellectual properties, making the prospect of putting them into the hands of other creators a potentially uninviting prospect.

Yet updates that feature other game or movie licenses always have the potential to bring in new fans, and pirate-loving gamers who haven't yet given Sea of Thieves a chance might find themselves swayed by crossovers like this one. New Sea of Thieves enemies, cosmetics, and quests from fan-favorite universes could add variety and grow the game's player base, so what other franchises would mesh with Sea of Thieves as well as Pirates of the Caribbean?

Sea Of Thieves Dream Crossovers - Assassin's Creed And Wind Waker

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has a lot of similar elements to Sea of Thieves already. Overall ship control, shanty singing, and island hopping were all a part of Black Flag, and seeing Captain Edward lead a crossover update would be very exciting. Other characters like Adéwalé and James Kidd could be part of a series of quests, and maybe some Templar hunting or Spanish armada raiding missions could even be worked in. Black Flag is still a great pirate adventure and campaign in its own right, so seeing it reimagined with a different take would be exciting.

One other fun crossover would be The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Sailing through the open seas as Link made Wind Waker a must-play for many, and putting him in Sea of Thieves would be a treat for fans of the old GameCube classic. This might be a bit ambitious, as Nintendo isn't the most ready to allow their characters to be used elsewhere, but unexpected crossovers like Mario + Rabbids might be a hopeful sign. Given that Steve from Minecraft was added into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this year, and Master Chief has continually been rumored to appear, so Xbox Game Studios and Nintendo working together might not be an impossibility.
