  1. Am I the only one having trouble hearing the podcast? Like it’s very muttled and unclear? This is a new problem for me, and it’s only with this podcast and the previous one. All the others play just fine…

    • Not having a problem, except for them dissing Family Matters. :-D

      • Weird. I guess it’s on my end. Crappy office computers. Ugh. Thanks!

        • Keep us posted! I haven’t changed anything in the recording or mixing process – so I’m not sure what it would be on our end. That said, if other people are having problems – let me know and I’ll look into it.

          • Yeah it’s weird, cause I would think it would be on my end, but all the other podcasts except for the last two play just fine. Very strange.

  2. Project XXX starring Christina Hendricks – giggity :-D

  3. 1. 21 Jump Street
    2. John Carter
    3. Lorax
    4. Jeff Who Lives at Home
    5. Project X
    10. A Thousand Words

  4. More sex in the theater, huh? Dude, you need to wear a body condom next time. :-)

  5. 1) 21 Jump Street
    2) The Lorax
    3) John Carter
    4) Project X
    5) Silent House
    10) This Means War

John Carter was a fun movie but like you guys said it didn’t explain mythos and it would have been so easy to with the very first scenes. Mark Strong and Dominic West could have easily covered the 9 rays and that big structure in the river. The ending of the movie I thought was fantastic and I hope this things earns some money so we can see a sequel. Which will have to get more into mythos and relationships between the different races and how barsoom will resupply their natural resources. Great podcast!

  6. Thanks for letting me get away with the Lorax – John Carter switch. I’ll take the tie for first place.

  7. I´ve read a few reviews about Comic Book Men and they weren´t good. But I decided to get an own opinion about it. And after watching the first two episodes, I loved it. So I don´t get all the hate about it.

On another topic, I don´t get why you guys can say s*** and f*ck on your podcast, but the readers and regular commenters are getting censored and/or banned for doing that. That´s a bit of a double moral, isn´t it?

    • I was thinking the same thing, but I figured there must be some logical reason. A child can click on the play button and hear the language; I’d prefer to not read nor hear it myself, but the podcasts are such fun to listen to.

      • A kid can click on the “comment” section and read those words. Where´s the difference?

        • That was my point; I was agreeing with you.

    • aww c’mon man..

    • First up – thanks for listening to the podcast (even if Anthony is a vulgar human being).

Now to the question at hand.

We didn’t actually have an “official” conversation about it when developing the podcast. To be honest, we view the podcast as a less formal conversation with friends about movies and TV – where as what we write on the site is more “official” and “professional.”

Both the iTunes link as well as the posts contain Explicit language warnings as well. They obviously don’t prevent kids or sensitive listeners from hearing – but that’s the way with everything on the internet.

Last, and most importantly, cussing in comment sections tend to “usually” be directed at other people. As a result, like many other sites, we’ve set them to go into auto-moderation – so as to avoid filling the comments with back and forth personal attacks. On the podcast, it’s obviously a different story – since the conversation is confined to SR employees and guests.

I realize it might turn some people off and cost us a few listeners but I’d rather the other guys feel comfortable enough to deliver interesting and entertaining banter – instead of watching their language the whole time. Ultimately, we know it’s a gray area. For now, anyone who wants to cuss me out – feel free to let it rip on Twitter!

That said, you all should hear the completely unedited versions… no, no you shouldn’t.

      • It´s understandable. But I still think that if we, the commenters are not allowed to curse on here, then you guys shouldn´t do it either.

        • Scape,

I would prefer that the podcast be “family friendly” but I deferred to my editors on that point.

          • @Vic, Ben, Scape – I’d like to hear them all talk in Old English or Pig Latin but I’m kind of…”different”. :-)

            Paul Young

        • We NEED this. After a week of writing tons of posts and getting smacked around in the comments, and censoring ourselves in the written form, the boys just to need to let their hair down (except Ant, who has no hair).

To be fair, Scape, I think you guys should feel free to curse along with us while you’re listening to the ‘cast.

          That work? ;-)

    • A key difference is that the podcasts don’t just show up anywhere and everywhere like our site. The site is meant for EVERYONE to read and partake in, and profanity could really hurt the community in the comments because comments are usually directed or in response to others who don’t know each other.

The podcast is a different thing, a different type of direct convo between people who know and work together. The podcast has an explicit tag on iTunes. SR doesn’t have an explicit tag and we don’t want it to :)

  8. I’ll give my picks befroe I listen…

    1) 21 Jump Street
    2) John Carter
    3) The Lorax
    4) Project X
    5) Act of Valor
    10)A Thousand Words

  9. This is my pick for the box-office battle:
    1. 21 Jump Street
    2. John Carter
    3. The Lorax
    4. Silent House
    5. Project X
    10. The Vow

  10. Just finished the podcast. Alcatraz has 3 more episodes to go this season. I like the show but ratings are down over half since it’s pilot.

  11. Hey guys! Podcasts was great as usual, but to the point on cursing (which is weird because I was gonna comment on that anyway): I don’t mind it myself (meaning, I’d prefer you didn’t, but it’s bearable, because I love you guys), but I have other friends and family members who share my interest in movies that I’d like to share the podcasts with and…well, I can’t. Cause you guys say “f**k” too much. (REALLY looking at you ANTHONY OCASIO, you horrible person, you…) I’m just saying, I don’t wanna infringe on your 1st Amendment rights or anything, because I don’t think you guys would be you without an occasional f-bomb, lol…but could we at least limit them to, say, i don’t know, 2 to 3 per podcast?

  12. Is everyone kidding me?? I think i speak for most of the people on here when i say we listen to this FOR the cursing! No but really..just..who cares? Young children aren’t going to have the patience to sit through this and listen to other people talk about movies because all they care about are themselves and candy. Just let the guys do their thang(s)…

  13. I disagree. When we, the listeners, are writing our comments on the site we have the opportunity to carwfully think and chose our words. But they can’t! They are talking and are often very passionate and this is why they don’t have the time to be careful when talking. I don’t mind the cursing and I think it makes the podcast much more authentique.

    • Let’s not forgot ALL of the articles are written/edited by us… with absolutely no profanity :)
