  1. I went to see Drive a few weeks ago and the place was packed, with only two empty seats and I discovered why quite quickly. It turns out that the two dudes at the end of the row were sh*t faced. They had a Big Slurpee filled with vodka. And I mean they were _screaming_ at the screen. When some exciting scene happened and the crowd gasped, these dudes turned to the crowd and screamed, “oh you talk now?! Shut the f*ck up!” It was insane. It took an hour before the usher came in to remove them. Then, you could hear the dudes shouting at the top of their lungs in the lobby at how everyone else was talking too. But we were all reacting to the actions _in_ film. It was insane and ridiculous. I’m starting to dread going to the movies.

    • S –

That’s unfortunate, after seeing Paranormal Activity 3, I sort of expect horror movies to bring out the crazy in some people but… Drive? At least in the screening that I mentioned, the guy who was complaining about Drive kept his mouth shut until after the movie.

Hope it didn’t ultimately ruin your time at Drive – it’s still one of my favorite movies of the year.

  2. PA 2 and 3 spoilers.

Pa 2… They talked about “Strange people coming to the house.” Not a psychologist. There for old people in black robes fit well.

    • We’re actually working on a Paranormal Activity 3 ending explained post now that tries to address similar connections. Kofi went back and rewatched them again – so definitely look for that soon. I do remember the “strange people” detail – though there’s definitely some other pieces that don’t line up.

      • Of course. I mean the house fire and Katie talking about her parents in PA 1.

There is two things I am expecting in pa4 if they go in to Development earlier then they did with PA 3.

        1. Katie and Kristie to live with who they think are there real parents.

        2. That house burning down.

        3. A bigger explanation of the cult.

        3. Something that will tie every thing down for one last installment.

        • I just realized I went typo crazy. 😀

  3. OMG Yes!This is your best episode yet.

    • Thanks Frank!

We went a little long – but couldn’t resist talking about our theater experiences…

  4. I’m so happy that I got to watch this movie with only 4 other people. Although I did have to wait a few days after the weekend, it was thoroughly more enjoyable to see the movie without a rowdy crowd.

    • I definitely enjoy a reactive crowd sometimes – since extra jumpy moviegoers can offer some unintentional laughs that cut the tension and offer a bit of catharsis but, after my press screening, I’d definitely have rather seen the film in an empty theater.

  5. Man that Anthony Ocasio guy is freaking hilarious.

  6. Ha sounds like you guys had a worse experience than I did with the PA3 audience. Great episode. I still side with you on your review Ben. Hopefully PA4 fills in some holes in the story/mythos sufficiently enough

    • Thanks Pharaoh!

Ya, I think we can all agree that we’d like to see a richer overarching tie-in with the next one (even if this one still got the job done). I’m also ready for them to leave the past behind and move the actual story forward.

  7. Some quick thoughts I had listening to this podcast

    1. James Cameron’s last 2 movies both set the all time record for actual box office earnings. Combined they earned over 4.5 billion dollars. When a person has that kind of success, you give them the benefit of the doubt.

    2. Orlando Bloom was HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, I repeat HORRIBLE in the 3 musketeers. I generally am pretty lenient on acting, but I have never seen a big name actor deliver such an awful performance. He was about as menacing as a fruit fly.

    3. I agree Paranormal Activity 3 was a step down from the other 2. My main problem with it was this, in the other 2 films I never had that moment where I felt the characters were complete idiots. Its not very manly of me to admit, but at a certain point if the events of PA3 were happening in my house, I would just run as fast as I could screaming at the top of my lungs as far away as I could possibly get from the house never to return. There are just too many things that happen in here that the characters are all ho-hum about.

    4. This was an amazing podcast.

    • Excellent points – especially number 4!

      1. I think we all mostly expect that Cameron will pull it off – I’m just really interested to see HOW he does it.

      2. Seconded.

      3. This one was especially hard in that regard. As a result, it takes a lot of suspension of disbelief to be okay with the fact that he keeps filming and doesn’t take a more proactive approach (call a demonologist or just get out) – especially since there are two young girls involved. It’s one thing if you want to take your own life into your hands but…

      Thanks for listening!

  8. Hey guys I’ve listened to all the podcast now. Really enjoy the banter and reviews.
    Keeps me entertained at work.
Love the cheesy music in between segments and enjoy it when it goes super geeky on some marvel character or comic, goes right over my head but that’s all good :)
Excellent spot on reviews, looking forward to this weeks rants and raves.
Keep up the superb work guys. Respects.

    • Thanks for listening Mongos!

  9. Another great episode guys!! I was especially glad to hear I am not the only one who appreciates day-time scares in horror movies. I forget who mentioned it because I still have a hard time figuring who’s who and it was only a few seconds of a 2hr podcast but the fact that it was even mentioned was great. It’s rarely done, in fact other than Halloween I don’t remember off the top of my head any movies that feature a day-time scare. I still haven’t seen Insidious.

    • Insidious is way better then PA3, I wasn’t scared of it also, but people seemed to be. I would check it out because it is different from the normal horror movies of today.

      • James – Agreed, Insidious definitely offers lots of great scares (though, it goes off the rails at the end to an extent IMHO).

    • Thanks Kevin! Glad you’re enjoying them.

  10. Oh man this movie was utter… oof darn profanity rules. This movie was really bad in my opinion. I do not know if I am not scared of horror movies anymore or what it is, because I did not jump even one time or flinch even one time during the movie. Other people were doing it but not to a huge extent. It feels like I wasted $10 on a movie now, which I could have spent somewhere else. I also don’t freak out or quiver at any of the parts where someones body parts get bent into an unrealistic shape. SPOILER that was how the movie ended. The big climax was this guys back getting bent back.

” The last 15 minutes of this movie will change your live ” My butt.
