The nominees have been announced for the fourth annual Scream Awards, held every year by Spike TV. The decisively more “fan-friendly” award ceremony (compared to the Oscars) honors films from the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic-book genres of movies, TV shows and comic books. The awards are described as, “the first and only global event of its kind,” to honor those genres.
The Scream 2009 nominees were chosen by the Advisory Board of Hollywood and Genre Leaders, a list which this year includes the likes of Wes Craven, Roland Emmerich, Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller, Eli Roth and Zack Snyder, plus many more. The event will be taped on Saturday, October 17th this year at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and will air on Spike TV ten days later on Tuesday, October 27th (check for local times).
Along with the awards, the show will also be airing some exclusive, world premiere of footage of some of the most anticipated movies of 2010! Presenters and musicians for the event are to be announced shortly.
Below is the list of a selection of the 32 categories from this year’s Scream nominations. For those of you (all of you?) who want to have YOUR say on which film should win, you’re in luck! Although some of the awards are truly suspect (how the hell The Spirit got nominated for ANYTHING is beyond me), I still like the overall celebration of the type of sci-fi, fantasy, comic book and horror films we here at Screen Rant revel in
Although I won’t go into a specific rundown of who I think should win, I’d like to throw my opinion in the ring for a few of them:
Lost should win Best TV Show (I love Dexter, but it’s no Lost); Best Horror Movie should go to Let The Right One In (I would say Drag Me To Hell, but since that’s a comedy too, Let The Right One takes it for me); Best Actor in a Fantasy Movie Or TV Show should go to Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; and Best Comic Book Movie should (EASILY) go to Watchmen.
But enough from me, what and who will YOU vote for? As stated, you can cast your votes over at Spike.com, and you can see if the winners match your picks when the Scream Awards 2009 air on October 27th this year on Spike TV.
Around the web:

Kristen Stewart??? She has 1 emotion and it sucks. I refuse to see twilight and suffered through her in Adventureland. She should not be an actress.
Here are my picks:
BEST FANTASY MOVIE: “Watchmen”

BEST ACTRESS IN A FANTASY MOVIE OR TV SHOW: -Rhona Mitra; “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”
BEST COMIC BOOK BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE: “Watchmen”
BEST DIRECTOR: Michael Bay; “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”…..sorry I can’t say that without laughing.
Are these any good?
I have never watched them .
Is it kind of like the MTV awards for comic book fans?
This might be one place where Bay could win Best Director.
How the heck did Dragonball get in there?! That movie was horrible!

Best Supporting Actor in a Fantasy Movie: Jackie Earle Haley
“Best Supporting Actor in a Fantasy Movie: Jackie Earle Haley”
Ditto on that.
My Bloody Valentine? Really?
Let me quote from one of the best horror and scifi movies ever made that seems appropriate for this list – Did IQs suddenly drop while i was gone?
If BSG doesn’t win, there’s no justice in this world.
Watchmen was horrible. And 2 hours to long.
Best Fantasy movie : Watchmen
Best Horror Film: Let the right one in
Best Comic Book Movie: Watchmen
Best Villain: Liev Schrieber
Best Director: J. J. Abrams
Best TV Show: Terminator
Best Actor in a Fantasy Movie: Hugh Jackmen
Best Actress in a Fantasy Movie: They all lose if I get my way
Pf cpurse they would never nominate any tv shows outside America while nominating Let The Right One In (which I’m excited for, I love that movie) but thee are many excellent sci-fi/horror/fantasy shows outside of the US.
Best actor in a Fantasy Movie: Hugh Jackman. I don’t care about the rest of the awards.
anything but twilight,I don’t want them to pull an MTV!!!
If Watchmen doesn’t beat out those other movies for best comic book movie and Jackie Earl Haley doesn’t win for best supporting actor someone’s gonna get a chop to the throat, and I pray to god I don’t have to start chopping people in the throat.
I’ll be in attendance for this show. Anyone else?
Should be fun,,,

Best Comic Book Movie: Watchmen
Best Villain: Lorna Raver as Mrs. Ganush;
rag Me to Hell
Best Director: Tomas Alfredson; Let the Right One In
Best TV Show: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
c’mon! aren’t you guys just a little miffed that Twilight is even in there? I am a huge Twilight Saga fan and even I don’t think it belongs. Especially since all the ‘movie’ fans are going to be voting once this hits the boards. It will be another MTV Awards and Teen Choice Awards all over again.
The Twilight movie sucked. sucked.
Isn’t it kinda obvious at this point. Any award show that noms Twilight is going for tween ratings/votes.
Same reason there’s so many Vampire tv/movies out right now.
BEST FANTASY MOVIE: “Twilight”
BEST HORROR MOVIE: “Friday the 13th”
BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE:“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”

BEST ACTOR IN A FANTASY MOVIE OR TV SHOW: Robert Pattinson, “Twilight”
BEST ACTRESS IN A FANTASY MOVIE OR TV SHOW: Kristen Stewart, “Twilight”
I just want `True Blood`to win! And Emma Watson for the best actress!!!!!
i’m wondering where the hell is H2 in the horror section. did it come out too late to be nominated? i’m a little upset i’ll have to wait another year to see if it will be on 2010 awards.
and True Blood….all the way. should win every nomination. it is hip, creepy, sexy and the most original series on tv. and Sookie is beautiful.
Ultimate scream: Let The Right One In
best horror actress: Anna Paquin
Best Horror Actor: Stephen Moyer
Best Fantasy Movie: Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince
Best fantasy actress: Emma Watson
Best Fantasy Actor: Daniel Radcliffe
Best Supporting Actress: Rutina Wesley
Best Supporting Actor: Rupert Grint
Breakout Performance-male: Sam Trammel
Best ensemble: True Blood
Scream song of the year: Bad Things
Best Horror Movie: Let the Right one In
I think that allmost all the nominees are bad, i am sick of twilight.
But i cant seem to find nominees for best song, and i have herd that My Chemical Romance’s ‘desolation row’ is a nominee, and i wanna vote for it, but i cant find it.
I’m honestly betting on Twilight to win something simply because of its fanfirl popularity. I love the series, but rabid fangirl I am not. What I don’t get is how damn twilight fans say they’re the biggest vampire fans when I’ve liked vampires and werewolves since RL Stine in 1993 Goosebumps. I liked the supernatural before it became cool.
My picks are Coraline,Friday the 13th, X-Men,Liev Schrieber, True Blood, and Michael Sheen (He joins the twilight ranks btw as Aro of the Volturi XD makes me giggle). The rest I have no preference.
