Sci Fi’s Ghost Hunters Gets A Spinoff

ghosthunters spinoff Sci Fis Ghost Hunters Gets A SpinoffI’ve previously written a review on Sci Fi Channels’ Ghost Hunters with a bit of incredulity as to their success for constantly finding ghosts, here on Screen Rant.

The ensuing comments showed me people like the show more than I expected, and sure enough, the ratings must have warranted the same perspective, as the show is getting it’s own spinoff, called Ghost Hunters International.

Ghost Hunters International will follow a new crew of investigators as they travel around Europe, including some of Europe’s legendary haunted spots doing what they do best, finding or debunking those Casper sightings!

The European team will consist of alumini TAPS investigators Robb Demarest, Andy Andrews, Brian Harnois and Donna La Croix, along with Barry Fitzgerald (from the Ghost Hunters‘ investigations in Ireland) and newcomer Shannon Sylvia.

Ghost Hunters International is slated to debut on Sci Fi in January 2008.

While I was writing this, it was getting warm in the room. I thought I was having a ghostly encounter in my new home, but it turns out it was my wife staring at me, with a look that said “Why are you on the internet while we still have boxes to unpack!” I need to go now.

  1. I’ve been a fan of the Ghost Hunters show since it began and have subsequently downloaded every episode as soon as it airs from iTunes. You are right that there does seem to be a high degree of evidence captured by the team, but the thing I wonder more is whether or not that phenomena has always been there and we’re just now starting to get the technology sensitive enough to pick it up. If that’s the case, more and more people ought to be able to achieve the same results. Once the results can be confirmed the next step is a lot more of a trip. Will it eventually become possible to interact with spirits?

Every time we told ourselves that something can’t be achieved, someone goes and proves us wrong. There was a time when every scientist in the world was jumping up and down screaming at the top of their lungs that it was impossible to break the sound barrier! Chuck Yeager had to prove them wrong. Things like that happen time and time again. Perhaps we’re just now getting to the point where we can detect and sense these spirits when before we simply didn’t have the technology to pull it off. Thomas Edison believed it was possible so I’m open to the possibility.

As for the new show, I’ll watch every episode.

  2. I really like the ghost hunters show except when Brian is getting constantly badmouthed. I was very glad to see that he is no longer with original team, and is now with the international group. I don’t like the way Jason and Grant were constantly treating him like a two year old. If he was so bad then why have him on the show? Was that supposed to be the “comic” relief?

  3. I feel sorry for Sci Fi Channel and anyone that watches this CRAP! This show is totally FAKE! Any little noise (like an old house settling) is said to be the GHOST. OMG, I’m sooo scarred!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a Break! I find the cast does a terrible job trying to convince people that this is actually real. Take better acting lessions already! This is NOT entertainment, This is unbelievable GARBAGE! Get it Off The Air and stop wasting television frequency.
