Scarlett Johansson As Black Widow Concerns Drop Slightly

When Scarlett Johansson was announced as the actress to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and other Marvel universe films, fans were NOT happy. If you look at the image above, it’s pretty obvious why.
But at least as far as visually, things are looking up – When she recently showed up in London at Moet and Chandon: A Tribute to Cinema party, Scarlett was looking considerably more like the Russian spy that we’ve come to know.

So what do you think? Are things looking up in regards to Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and possibly The Avengers?

Trouble is, while she looks more like the Black Widow as a brunette, she also doesn’t look nearly as *good* as a brunette – and this is coming from someone who’s a brunette man. It doesn’t suit her.
Never seen what people see in her . To me she is very plain looking .???? There are much better coices out there for this role .
I love her, jus not for this role. Maybe for the “new” BW from that recent miniseries, but I think the Widow should be a little more seasoned,more older, not a “jus skipped college to go to ninja school chick”. Not saying Blunt had it locked, but I gotta be able to see the experience in the face, an it’s jus not there. It’s like when the 007 franchise expected people to believe Denise Richards was a rocket scientist.
Well you know how it goes, I don’t think they actually expected you to believe Denise Richards was a rocket scientist, it’s just because she has two rockets on her chest they expected nobody to care…

1st… I have ZERO problems with Denise Richards ‘Rockets’!!!
2nd… I think Scarlett going ‘hard body’ and not that ‘soft look’ in the right photo would actually rock the roll. (God I can’t believe I wrote that.)
3rd… I really think that she’ll be just fine in the roll.

I have to say that my opinion of Scarlett as Black Widow hasn’t changed. I just don’t think she’s as great an actress as she gets made out to be. She’s pretty much only eye candy, and I don’t think she will be able to come across seriously as a kick@ss super-spy.
Bill, even as eye candy, I think Emily Blunt is better looking than her anyway. I’m not talking about her body (although that may be true as well) but their face, I am not really “digging” Scarlett’s face as Black Widow, something wrong with those eyes… And maybe the nose…

Well, I did say that I THINK, as in it’s my opinion. I know you stated it as a fact but I’m sure you understand your view is your opinion. I’m sure plenty of people think Scarlett is “hotter” than Emily Blunt, but I don’t think so.

Looks are one thing, but what about the lack of talent. Emily Blunt has both.
In a cast of Downey, Rourke, Rockwell, Cheadle, etc. its needed more than some hair dye and a bust.

Kate would make a great HOT BW !!! Wonder how much SJ paid to get this role ? Wonder also how much politics goes into some of the casting . There are so many better choices out there .??????

Scarlett is very short, they should have chosen someone older and much more matured. Someone who can make people belive she has a strange and dangerous past but can be an asset to the Avengers. One of the Hollywood mistake is always to cast A-List actors that don’t look like the characters. I admire WATCHMEN for making it to the big screen and having less known actors.

I think scarlett is a good pick. I definitely think if she pulls it off well, it will better her career. I also saw that they were looking at Eliza Dushku for the part. She would’ve been great also cause she’s been in action roles since buffy and she looks the part.
I think Scarlett Johansson will do a great job with Black Widow. She has recently dyed her hair for the role and (everyone knows this) she has the perfect body too. All I what is to see Scarlett Johansson in the costume and then we all know she is perfect for it

she's quite inadequate not just in looks but also in acting skills.Her curves are irrelevant to a 'Russian spy ” character,Russian are slim and well-built,Scarlett needs to lose lots of pounds.

oh and btw, it’s Hollywood. it’s a much different world from comics so if there are changes, deal with it. if you can’t, just don’t watch. it’s not good for the heart if you resent too much on things you can do nothing about. live happy:)
Wow. I think she proved all the doubters wrong. I was completely blown away by her badassery when I saw the film…hell I wanted to BE her. They shoot her well…you would never think of her as short at any time in the movie, and she has that icy cold “don’t screw with me” gleam in her eye while somehow managing to be seductive at the same time. I wish they’d given her a little more screen time and depth of script.
She’s hot, which is the main thing. Teehee.
I thought she was pretty good. Maybe not quite as, ah, kick-ass as she could’ve been, but still . . .
