Saw 3D Official Trailer Saw 3D Trailer (Literally) Tortures Audiences

Lionsgate will release the seventh chapter in their successful “torture porn” series, Saw 3D, this October.  A new trailer for the film has been released and it hints that this will indeed be the final Saw movie – despite rumors that plans for Saw 8 are already being developed.

Saw 3D (previously known as Saw 7) touts the tagline “The Traps Come Alive” and promises to be a fully immersive experience for moviegoers who see it in 3D.  The official trailer for the film actually delivers on that promise and features lots of in-your-face shots of deadly weaponry that threatens to do irreparable harm to the audience members – both those watching the trailer and in the trailer itself.

Former editor turned director Kevin Greutert reunited with his Saw VI screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton for the seventh Saw pic, which revolves around a group of individuals who survived the now-deceased Jigsaw’s traps and seek closure from fellow survivor and self-help guru, Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery). That turns out to be a poor choice on their part.

The new Saw 3D trailer does not reveal exactly which notable actors from previous Saw films will return, though one familiar face has already been confirmed.  What this preview does do is deliver exactly what fans want – people getting tortured by elaborate traps and lots of it.

Check out the Saw 3D trailer below:

3D films have long used the illusion that objects onscreen are flying out at the viewing audience, enough so that a lot of moviegoers nowadays consider it to be a cheap gimmick.  Saw 3D may not feature engaging characters or an intriguing story, but it actually looks to make proper use of the multi-dimensional technology.

The Saw movies have always been visceral viewing experiences and the 3D technology should only heighten the grisly nature of the seventh film. To its credit, the Saw 3D footage released so far has actually avoided the lame 3D trick shots that have plagued the promos for this week’s big release, Resident Evil: Afterlife – and that is genuinely inspiring.

Saw 3D arrives in 2D and 3D theaters in the U.S. on October 29th, 2010.

  1. looks awsome, hope it’s as good as it looks.

  2. “Saw 3D may not feature engaging characters or an intriguing story…”

Have you never seen a Saw movie?

    • I’ve seen all but Saw 6. The engaging story and deep characters ended roughly at Saw 2. I didn’t care for Saws 3, 4, or 5. As mentioned before, I need to see Saw 6. This looks like it may finally return to the more interesting aspects of the story.

Hold on… Okay- I’ll admit, Saw 4 was okay. Better than 3. 5 blew it for me. My favorite is still Saw 2. It was still on par with the original film, but it was distinctly more brutal.

      • Saw 6 was the best.

        • I agree… 5 sucked and almost chased me away entirely, but then there was 6 — the best since the original.

          • Exactly. If you haven’t seen Saw VI then I am deeply sorry for your loss. It really is the best since the original.

  3. the dude in the car was from linkin park right? anyway.. i doubt i will be seeing this.. but who knows, i’ve seen a couple of other saw films just to see people get tortured and killed :)

    • A smiley face doesn’t erase what you wrote before it. Good luck with the FBI investigation. :)

      • haha oh no! i mean i see it for the story and i absolutely hate the gory parts! eew! :p hey.. whats wrong with liking that people get slaughtered in movies? i find it totally normal haha :)

        • And kinda funny sometimes

    • yes chester bennington, i love when he has a cameo in movies, kinda like in the crank movies, even though they sucked, and im actually looking forward to this one.
      Go Dr. Gordon!!!!

  4. the constant pausing towards the end ruined the mood for me. i doubt the 3D stuff will be any more exciting/new then what we’ve already been forced to view… i mean ‘experienced’.

  5. OMFG! I cannot wait! I don’t care what anyone says about the Saw fanchise, I FREAKIN LOVE IT! The only thing I do not like about it, is they kinda, sorta try to put in big (sorta) name people in the movies. Like the dude from Linkin Park. Oh and the explosion crap.. Come on.. I loved the 5th one and I think it explained alot! My favorites out of them all are, 5,1,3,6,4,2.
I know everything about Saw. Seriously. DIE HARD SAW FAN!

    • Why didn’t you just say you love all the movies instead of listing all the movies in a mixed up order????

  6. I’ve said it before, I won’t see it in 3D, but i’m still crazy excited about this movie! Should be great. :)

  7. I laughed when the pig mask guy onscreen grabbed the dude from the audience.

  8. Looks a bit to gimmicky for my tastes. Although I like a good “gore” movie every once in a while I don’t think the saw franchise has been any good since they killed off Jigsaw.

  9. looks like the new saw movie is gonna be just what true horror fans want to see this holloween. I can’t wait!!

  10. wow what a nice movie it seems i think it will blockbuster all the records .waiting to see it . this post is amazing having full information about the movie thanks to admin to post it here.

  11. For diehard fans, Betsy Russell (Jill Tuck) is doing a charity date auction on DateBid. A fan will have the chance to go on a 10 minute webcam date with the very hot Betsy Russell on Monday. Proceeds go to Betsy’s favorite Charity.
