Oh, I can’t stand the suspense! This week, the 34th annual Saturn Awards handed out their usual fare of achievement recognizing statues.
In the event you aren’t aware of what they are, the Saturn Awards are the honors handed out by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The Academy has been delivering their awards for over thirty years and they look to recognize cinematic achievement.
It’s a recognized validation of the genre we so fervently appreciate.
Some of the more noteworthy recipients of the awards:
Walt Disney Studios picked up three awards, ABC’s Lost snagged four awards, and 300 picked up 2 awards.

I’m glad Lost gets *some* credit, let’s see what happens at the Emmy’s
Yeah, Lost rules!, too bad the ending of season 4 wasn’t that good and dramatic as that from season 3.
And Cloverfield, wow I loved that movie, it was just perfect for what it should be.
But what about 300? that’s not one of the last year?

cloverfield is not science fiction! why would that have even won!?
Nice to see Dr. Who get some recognition. It’s one of the best written shows on TV and the actor who plays the Doctor is absolutely fantastic. It’s on my “Can’t Miss” list every week.
hi, of COURSE Clovefield is sci-fi! What else could it be? Horror? Space aliens coming down and wiping out Manhattan isn’t sci-fi??? I agree that it was pretty awful, but it was still sci-fi.
I liked most of the list and it’s nice to see movies we like getting the recognition we feel they deserve. It’s a refreshing perspective.
Anyone here think they missed on any category??
Where is Battlestar Galactica? Anyone on that show is better than Matthew Fox. And many of the other stars of Lost are better actors.
They messed up on Dexter. First off its not a horror show, its a pyshcological drama. BSG should have won that hands down !!
That’s a pretty big mistake people from Saturn !!! Same with Bardem in “No Country”. I don’t remember and sci-fi, fantasy or horror in that one?
Cloverfield was a great sci-fi film.

I guess another problem I have with the Saturn Awards besides Lost, is the timeframe in the selection process.
Are these the best of 2007 or the best of 2007 and a little of January 2008 ?
Do it better next time Saturnians.
