demolitionman39 Is Sandra Bullock Expendable? If the news already released (mainly casting in nature) for Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action flick The Expendables hasn’t got you excited enough already, we have another piece of casting news to fuel the fire.

Now it’s not set in stone but it appears that Sandra Bullock may be the next one to jump aboard the cast, as Stallone is “pursuing her for the project.” If she signs on the dotted line she will join already announced cast members Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker, Randy Couture and of course Stallone himself (who’s also writer and director).

If you need a little reminder, The Expendables is about a group of mercenaries who are sent on a mission to South America to overthrow a dictator. Moviehole described the movie as shaping up to be like “‘Clear and Present Danger’ on acid…”

Sounds interesting (to say the least!).

It seems as if Stallone is really putting the effort forth on this one, as he’s proven to do in the past with the original Rocky and Rocky Balboa (and even Rambo, although that didn’t turn out quite as good). It’s clear he’s looking at it as a passion project -kind of an ode to the action movie genre. I mean, just look at that cast; he’s got himself and Lundgren bringing us a blast from the action past and modern day acton stars Jet Li and Jason Statham, as well as UFC fighter Randy Couture (who I’m sure wasn’t hired for his acting skills). And an Oscar winning actor like Forest Whitaker on board sure doesn’t hurt.

As I’ve said, the deal isn’t clinched with Bullock but I don’t see why she wouldn’t want to work with her former Demolition Man co-star in a film that’s shaping up be as kick-ass as this. Word is if she does join she will “play a government agent (paired up with Whitaker) on the hunt for Stallone’s crew of hired guns.” I’m liking the sound of that.

What do you make of Bullock’s potential expendability? And what about the film in general? Excited?

  1. Stallone is going to pull off one of the greatest action movies of this next year and with his last two movies doing great this will be a great comeback for him.

  2. I have been excited about this one for a while and to hear the bullock is going to be in it just makes my day. She is a very talented actress imo.

  4. wow Sly is lining up one hell of a good cast.
I hope the script turns out well too !!

  5. Sandra Bullock, haven’t seen her in a long time. I would love to see her face on the big screen again!

  6. If I recall, Sandra said that she wasn’t going to do anymore films that contained heavy gunplay, shootouts or heavy violence…
She even named her production company “Gunshy productions”.

Stallones got a tough sell on his hands…

  7. Who’s next wesley snipes LOL what about carl weathers that would be cool or maybe Adrian don’t get me wrong I love Sly and this sounds like its going to be G.I.Joe but with good actors

  8. Sly is certainly giving this his all.

  9. LOL, so Sandra Bullock is going to be in movies about hugging trees or what?? 😀

  10. Look at her films after Speed 2,,, they have mostly been chick flicks and comedies…

  11. Bullock is a good choice! Loved her with Sly in Demo Man! In fact, that’s the 1st time I saw her! She’s a grounded girl. I like her. And Sly ‘can do no wrong’ in my book!

  12. Yes.

Her deer-in-headlights stare and clichéd acting (little-girl anxiety schtick in “While You Were Sleeping”) are expendable.
