Fans are getting a horrifying new look at The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country in the form of a new trailer that shows off some truly killer art. DC's newest addition to the world of The Sandman centers on Dream's most notorious creation, the Corinthian, chasing a new nightmare that's tearing its way through the countryside. The series has already showcased some truly haunting images, but DC's latest marketing stunt shows that there's plenty more terrors to come.

DC delighted fans earlier this year with the announcement of The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country, a book set in the world of Neil Gaiman's classic series. The story follows the Corinthian, a chilling figure with two sets of teeth for eyes and a predilection for killing. Though the original Corinthian was destroyed, a new version took his place towards the tail end of the series. Now, Corinthian is taking center stage in a book that will follow him as he explores America, hunting down a mysterious and deadly figure.

With the first issue now available, DC has released a trailer on YouTube to spread the thrills and chills of their latest Black Label book to a larger audience. Featuring series' writer James Tynion IV, glimpses of Nightmare Country's interiors are shown as Tynion describes the personal impact The Sandman has had on his career and how the core of the series remains true to the Corinthian's character. Tynion also emphasized the importance that artists play in the creation of horror stories by capturing the raw emotions that come in such a powerful genre. Interspersed throughout the video are some graphic scenes from the book that really push the boundaries of DC's mature line of comics.

Tynion really hammers home that one of the book's strengths is the number of horror artists that will help bring the perturbing Corinthian and other nightmares to life. Artists such as Yannick Paquette, Lisandro Estherren, and Christian Ward will add to the book by providing stories that Tynion describes as "crucial to the larger narrative we're building."

Neil Gaiman's original story was a series that was made even better by the number of talented artists that helped realize the author's vision. Comic books are very much a joint effort that only writers and artists can bring about by working together. Tynion recognizes that one of the largest draws for a horror book is the art, and it looks like Nightmare Country isn't holding back in that department. Tynion's words combined with some top notch artists may just make for one of the most morbidly beautiful books on the shelves. Fans entranced by the eerily gorgeous art can pick up a copy of The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #1 in stores now.
