The movie theater is getting a little closer to home as Samsung recently announced 'The Premiere,' a 4K laser projector that's joined the company's Lifestyle line of products. The new device is expected to make movies better wherever they're projected by using updated technology and a suite of hardware that will provide both image clarity and access to some of the same features regularly used with modern television sets.

Projectors have been around for awhile, and some may remember them as a way to show blurry movies on a wall. However, they've come a long way since displaying Space Jam in classrooms and these days, one can see a far clearer picture from modern products, and Samsung's latest contribution is no different. What's notable is the integration of different technologies that in concert provide a better experience, and that's part of what is helping The Premiere to gain such attention.

Samsung's new The Premiere is an "ultra short throw laser projector" intended for projection at a range between 0-4 feet and delivering its picture at 4K. The latest Samsung device was announced this week during a special 'Life Unstoppable' remote press conference event. The Premiere is expected by Samsung to supply a memorable cinematic experience as the flagship item of its Lifestyle product lineup. The models soon to be available are the LSP9T and LSP7T, which display a vast 130 and 120-inches respectively. The LSP9T laser-powered projector comes as a forerunner in cutting-edge technology, becoming the first certified in a new display technology. Samsung stated these projectors will begin rolling out later this year in the United States, Europe, Korea, and elsewhere.

The high dynamic range format HDR10+ changes the way lighting is displayed. When watching a film, set values on brightness can leave some scenes appearing fine, while others are too dark to experience properly. What HDR10+ does is enable variability in lighting so that bright scenes show as intended and dark scenes sill create an immersive experience for the viewer. This triple-laser projector is the first in the world to be certified in this HDR format, and is rated to support 2,800 ANSI lumens. The Premiere comes with 'Filmmaker Mode' as well, which will apparently help to present a movie the way the director intended.

That's not all. As this projector is from Samsung, it also comes running on the company's smart TV platform, which means viewers at home can stream videos from Samsung partners, enjoy supported screen mirroring, and 'Tap View.' In terms of audio, the woofers are built-in and The Premiere uses Acoustic Beam sound direction as a component of its surround sound setup. With Samsung's new projector, the trouble of putting money into new sound equipment is less of a concern and the popcorn can come out quicker.
