Sam Worthington, the quick-to-hit-the-Hollywood-A-list Aussie star, will be starring in his first sequel (to one of his own movies) in 2012 with Wrath of the Titans. Moviegoers were presented with some of cinema's worst 3D post-conversion ever with the Clash of the Titans remake earlier this year and despite awful-to-medicore reviews from fans and critics, the special effects heavy film grossed nearly half a billion worldwide and hence, earned a sequel.

Worthington understands the cries of the fans and to a certain extent, agrees with them. He promises that he, the director and writers are listening and will attempt to deliver a much-improved sequel with Wrath of the Titans.

Sam spoke with Moviefone, revealing that he agrees with the common response to Clash of the Titans found on the web:

"I just think we can improve on it... I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first one. What we're setting out to do with this one -- the writers and the director and myself -- is improve. I think I can act f***ing better, to be honest ... Just take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the 'net and give them a movie they f***ing want. This one I want to kind of try to satisfy a lot more people."

The saving grace for Wrath of the Titans may be in Warner Bros. decision to bring in Jonathan Liebesman to direct the sequel, replacing Louis Leterrier who handled Clash. Liebesman is coming off his career-defining directorial gig, helming the gritty sci-fi action blockbuster, Battle: Los Angeles which hits theaters in March. Everything we've seen from this movie so far is impressive and hopefully he can bring a better film with Wrath of the Titans.

Worthington's Perseus leads the cast of the sequel along with returnees Gemma Arterton as Io and Liam Neeson as Zeus. With the Wrath of the Titans coming in 3D again, the question on everyone's mind is whether or not it'll be shot in that format or added again in post-conversion.

Wrath of the Titans is planned to open in theaters Spring 2012.
