Need I remind some that Wolverine is Canadian?

Superman also has Canadian roots (well, one of his creators does.)

I said this earlier…. but actors do this thing called acting. Robert D. Jr. doesn’t do most of his acting AS Ironman…. it’s computer generated… and true his accent was off. It was also the identical accent used when he played Charlie Chaplin…. (also British … making America home but booted out by said country and banned from returning for decades).

Americans play Brits, Brits play Americans and Canadians play with themselves … often on-screen in trendy un-seen indies.

I occasionally remember Flash Gordon from my childhood & they’re good memories. If he’s brought back to the screen, I hope it will be a fun, timeless story and not just a chance to capitalize on an old hero. As with any movie, I’d prefer talent, credibility and chemistry in the actors as opposed to having top-shelf names selling a ‘loosely based upon a beloved idea’ franchise. As much as I like Ryan Reynolds, I think he’s got enough comic book heroes under his belt with Hannibal King, Deadpool and Green Lantern. Some variety in casting would be nice.

(And since it’s being discussed…) Whoever plays Captain America, I hope they’re an actor with enough presence to be credible in a heroic/leadership capacity. Sam Worthington is a good actor, but I’m not sure he fits the bill – regardless of his nationality. That said, I’d prefer a Worthington in the role as opposed to a Channing Tatum, but I’m of the mind Cap would be better suited at an age that’s closer to the other Marvel heroes like RDJ & Hugh Jackman. If nothing else, I think these films have proven that actors don’t have to be in their mid-20′s to be an action hero.

Sherlock Holmes, at its heart, is a detective story. This one is set in London, but it just as easily could have been set in 19th century New York and worked as well. I don’t think it’s quite the British institution that James Bond is. Imagine the outrage in England if Matt Damon was cast as Bond. Bond is to England as Captain America is to the United States.

Robert Downey Jr. (an American) just played a British institution (Sherlock Holmes)and his accent was horrible (the part he played however magnificent). Apparently this sort of outrage is quite one sided or shall I say marginalized?

Ryan Mcpartlin IS perfect for Captain America!!! I’m cool with Sam Worthington as Flash Gordon and I think he’d do a good job at that. “Circus Maximus” or “Stratavarious” to do the sound track!!!! “Dragon Force” could do it but they like their drum beats really fast 95% of the time. That original Flash Gordon theme is so badass! Freddie Mercury and Queen were so incredible!!! I often wonder what kind of music Freddie and Queen would have been doing now if he was still alive.

I was just thinking that Ryan McPartlin from “Chuck” would be great as either Flash Gordon OR Captain America….AND he’s from Chicago. Doesn’t get much more American than that!

Matt, we arent talking about Captain America. We are talking about Flash Gordon.

And even then, I wouldnt have such a fit if Worthington was Captain America either. If the accent isnt there, and the actor looks and sounds the part, who gives a damn where the guy was born? Representing america? Please, this isnt the president of the United States, this is a marvel comic in film.

I think Sam would bring a different look to Flash Charactor; it maybe rumor now but he would be awesome as flash.As for his ascent did you even know he was from Australia in his last 2 movies???

I’d be much happier with a Flash Gordon Blu-Ray anyway.
My Region 2 Special Edition is a beautiful print and it has a Brian Blessed commentary (which is almost as cool as a Shatner Commentary) but It needs a better scrubbing, tweeking and Blu-jobbing

To Hell with another crapping politically correct (Ming the blond white not so mercillous bureaucrat- Wow! Hollywood, a large portion of you are such god da*ned pussies!!)

Just give me Brian Blessed in Blu-Ray and I’ll have all the Flash I need

Magneto is supposed to be a holocaust survivor, yet he has a british accent and nobody seems to care. Whats the big deal here?
