Sam Jackson As Nick Fury In Iron Man?

I’m still putting this down as rumor, but it does make sense: Samuel L. Jackson is on the set of Iron Man this week and the word is that he’s playing Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., the uber-spy-military organization that handles super-villain-type threats.
As you can see in the above image, the Marvel Comics “Ultimates” version of Nick Fury was without a shadow of a doubt modeled after Sam Jackson. So it makes perfect sense that Jon Favreau would bring Jackson in to play Fury in the Iron Man movie, especially in view of how involved Tony Stark has always been with S.H.I.E.L.D.
If this is true, it could be taken as a sign that the studio wants to seriously open the door to an Avengers movie, and even better, the possibility that they want to connect the individual superhero films by using the same actors.
Favreau and crew continue to make one amazing decision after another regarding Iron Man… I think this movie may end up being a far bigger hit than anyone is anticipating at this point considering that outside of comic book fans Iron Man is not a very well known character.

I think Ice T would be a better fit for looks, but for the acting skills, Jackson would do much better.
I have to admit, I’m not much of a Iron Man fan, but from what I am hearing about the film, it is building the anticipation.
Hope this is true but perfect! Sam J. has been waiting on the call for this role. The casting is stellar! I believe that IM will the best superhero movie to date. IM fans will be proud and IM can final get his just fame.

I try NOT to read the comments at AICN… I feel like I need a shower after reading through some of those nasty, mean-spirited threads. Those guys hate everything, I’m surprised if the comments are positive regarding Iron Man.

Yeah, I can’t stand AICN…..those folks seem like a bunch of punks who couldn’t write one positive movie review for FOX if their life depended on it.
It would be cool if Sam Jackson was playing Nick Fury. As mentioned his image is blatantly used for Ultimate Nick Fury,the only Ultimate Marvel character not to suck.
And yes,Iron Man looks like it will be a huge hit. I think it will rival Spider-Man’s box office record and even if it doesn’t,I still think it will be the best movie of 2008.
As I mentioned before Batman is my favorite superhero but to me a lot of the news I’ve heard about The Dark Knight has really got me down. And because of that Iron Man is on the top of my list of movies to see next year. Incredible Hulk is second place,with The Dark Knight holding 3rd,and Indiana Jones 4 holds 4rth place. I’m not so sure how the latter will be with Shia Labeouf starring as Indie’s son. I hope they don’t try anything stupid like a “Son of Indiana Jones” franchise. that could really screw up the Indie movies.
