An audition video has surfaced for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. When The CW announced that it was doing a more mature and dark take on the Archie comics, people were skeptical. Riverdale has since proven itself to be a success, taking the characters and settings from the wholesome Archie comics and using them to tell a murder mystery set in the dark underbelly of a seemingly normal town. Subjects ranging from teenage pregnancy to homelessness to drugs to insanity and crimes such as embezzlement, kidnapping, and drug running set the scene for how things in Riverdale might look normal and good, but has a dark side.

It looks like the show's upcoming companion series is following the same dark road. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will tell the story of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and will be just as mature and creepy as Riverdale has already proven itself to be. With a name taken from a short run of comics published by Archie Horror, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is sure to be almost nothing like the '90s sitcom previously based around the witch who knows Archie Andrews and his friends.

Because of the success of Riverdale, the hype for Sabrina is significant, with many young actors vying for the lead role, including Australian actor Maggie McKenna. Omega Underground got ahold of McKenna's audition tape, which not only gives fans an inside look at the woman who might play Sabrina, but also gives some insight into the show itself.

The first script page of McKenna's audition might seem familiar, since an image of that page has been released online. It starts with Sabrina leading Harvey - her love interest in the comics - to the grove of trees where she was born, and also where she will be reborn when she turns 16. Her logic for telling him this is to explain why she is unavailable for a date. However, the scene then takes a dark turn as Sabrina - who is half witch and half mortal - is confronted by three full witches who do not want any "half breeds" coming to school with them.

Showing no fear, Sabrina stands up to the bullies, invoking her family's powerful history and making it clear she will not be frightened off by them or anyone. McKenna's natural accent is well hidden in this video, as she speaks with a flawless American accent here - much like Riverdale star KJ Apa, who does the same while playing Archie.

With The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina still in the earlier stages of development, it will be awhile before any episodes air. Sabrina is not the only role that needs to be cast; McKenna's five minute audition video covers at least four other roles, and that is not counting the comics' regular characters - including Sabrina's Aunts. So there will be a wait before the show's pilot airs. Hopefully, that time will be filled with exciting news, including the announcement of who actually is playing the teenage witch herself. And until then, there is season two of Riverdale to look forward to.
