Iam looking forward seeing Ryan Reynolds play The Green Lantern on the Big Screen.
  • ewookie
you don't think this is a conflict of interest? reynolds is already deep in the marvel camp with wolverine and proposed dead pool movies. also, i'm not a green lantern fan (yet) so i don't know much about his personality. it doesn't seem like green lantern would have a personality even similar to dead pool. like i said, i don't know tho.
  • chrisj
Id have to say Ryan Reynolds makes a great choice to play Hal Jordan outta all the other choices they had. Bradley Cooper would be my 2nd. As for the rest, Hell NO. Finally a DC comic movie with one of the greatest heroes other than Batman and Superman to hit the silver screen. Even though id think Reynolds would be a perfect Wally West/Flash, im sure he'll be great as Green Lantern.
  • Manowar
Him playing green lantern would actually increase his audience for when he plays Deadpool.
  • Confused Marvel fan
So does this mean he isnt gonna play deadpool??????
  • Cantizzle
let's bash people for being fans of what they are doing. let's just all hope for people who don't know the character's they are playing, or don't care about the character they are playing. should make for some great movies.
  • tasouli
This might work, neither excited nor disapointed. i dont really care for the character of Green Lantern but if tehy are getting the guy that directed Casino Royale to do teh movie it should be a decent enough of a movie. I think that Reynolds will bring too much humor to teh character but I think on a movie like this they need a big well known hollywood actor to play the lead role, as it proved to work well with Iron Man. Good for Reynolds though, he is moving up the hollwood actor...still see him as Van Wilder though
  • stuntmanJ
Reynolds was never shy about how he loves what was going on for the Deadpool film, and how much of a fan is. Looks like we'll have to listen to more of the same "I'm a huge fan," crap. Just like Shia Lebouf is a fan of everything he's attatched to.
  • JD5DAD
I like ryan but I wanted Nathan Fillion as Hal
  • Keith Thomas
meant to type "I never said it wasN'T." Typo.
  • Keith Thomas
The chant MUST be in there. Also, some humor is necessary, I never said it was. What I said was, the humor in the script IS BAD. REALLY, REALLY BAD. For that matter, so's the entire first draft. Guggenheim hasn't written anything good yet. Not one thing. And, he wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so he could just be the new Zak Penn. That's scary.
  • Matt Keith
" It’s always nice to see Halle Berry in a skintight leather outfit."

Yeah...that was a nice sight, but even that couldn't distract me from the horrible dialoge and weak plot.
  • Daniel F
The Critic with that logic any time a terrible casting choice is made instead of expressing how you think it's bad we can just say well It could of been Actor X..> See don't you feel better now?

I highly doubt JT was ever a serious option.
  • Reynolds is the man, the more the merrier.

Although on DC/WB's part - don't they know he's getting his own Marvel flick?
  • greenknight333
Hal has a great sense of humor but it is subtle and intelligent..I love reading the current reimagining of GL by Geoff Johns..Very high quality IMO. Art work is very well done too...GL and the GL Corps have played an integral part in DC's Universe in the last 5 years .. Hal, John Stewart, Guy Gardiner and Kyle have a great dynamic in the books and act like four best friends who know each other better(good and bad) than anyone else and would go to the wall for each other..
  • greenknight333
Ok folks..To chant or not to chant..should the chant be in the movie or something he is saying in the end credits as it fades away from a shot of GL powering up his ring?
  • Andy S
I don't mind watching Catwoman. It's always nice to see Halle Berry in a skintight leather outfit. :D
  • Phil G
What it boils down to is whether the actor can make you believe he truly has the capacity to "overcome all his fears" and Ryan Reynolds is fine for that.
  • Phil G
The comedy didn't hurt Iron Man. It won't Green Lantern either.

And Hal does have a sense of humor... it's just a bit more subtle.
  • Matt Keith
Despite the disconnection of Catwoman from any Batman franchise, and despite the universal hate toward Catwoman, it is in fact a DC character and film.
  • @Matt haha Can we really count that version of "Catwoman" as DC's Catwoman? I mean... really???
  • The Critic
it takes way too much to please you guys. there are parts of the character that are funny and reynolds will do that well. he can also play a serious roll as we have seen in a couple movies. imagine how much you guys would be complaining if that dope Justin Timberlake was cast! now think about Ryan Reynolds being green lantern. you feel better now don't you?

3rd actor to play DC and Marvel/Fox but people will say depending on the writers it's not written as a DC character or something shady.

bottom line is that Reynolds is a fine choice (funny or not) and it will not affect Deadpool. He will do both.
  • Keith Thomas
The first draft of the script is easily available online. It has some REALLY bad humor, and is actually worse than the Kevin Smith Superman Lives script. It's that bad. I hope they hire a real writer to fix it. But, that hasn't happened. Marc Guggenheim (wrote one movie: X-Men Origins: Wolverine) still being the writer scares me almost as much as if they'd hired Zak Penn.
  • Gary
I hope It doesnt mean the script takes a "goofy" approach to its humor.
it will be intersting if we soon see an announcemnent of a rewrite of the script.
    NOT criticizing just speculating.
I still think Reynolds looks like the classic 60s version of Hal Jordan.
  • Keith Thomas
Reynolds was great in Smokin' Aces! Why do people keep mentioning Amityville as his only non-comedic performance?? He can do this! I have to believe he can do this! I don't want Green Lantern to suck, and that script that I've read leads me to think sucking is exactly what it's going to do!
  • @Kofi

Oh, sure - I just don't want a "goofy" approach to this film. I'd actually prefer it if they played it straighter than they did with Iron Man.

    Vic
  • Kofi Outlaw
    @ Vic

You don't think good comedic chops are going to be required for scenes where Hal Jordan is learning (and failing) to conjure things with his ring?

I expect for this film we are going to get a kind of Hal Jordan/Kyle Ryner(sp?) mix.
  • Matt Keith
    "ITS A FIRST"

It may be a first for Reynolds, but its not the first time an actor played a character from DC and Marvel(coughHalle Berrycough).
  • Shockwave
He's not the first. There are 2 others I believe.
  • GUNSMITH
YEAH ITS FUNNY THAT HE'S DOING A MARVEL AND A DC CHARACTER..ITS A FIRST
