    @Rob

    He isn't completely wrong though, Ryan Reynalds basically only plays some idiot frat boy or some other d-bag in his comedy movies. I'm not saying he won't do well in this movie, but it's not a huge stretch for someone to say that about him...

    Sinestro : Kevin Spacey
  • Ogre
    I am TOTALLY stoked!
    Huge fan of Ryan and I'm thrilled to see he's FINALLY getting some major recognition.
    Can't wait to see him in both of these roles.
  • KEL
    The Flash has to be Barry Allen.
  • @ Has to be said,

    Couldn't disagree more bud, but to each there own.

    He wasn't at the party unfortunately so I didn't get to ask him :(
  • Has to be said
    Claude, when I look at Ryan Reynolds, I see a d-bag. It's the only thing he's good at playing, because he comes off as one. I can't stand him as an actor, can't stand him onscreen, and generally him being in a movie is a reason for me never to see that movie. I don't get what anybody could see in him.
  • The Pitt Man
    Deadpool is a second string nobody character, and who would leave a musical genius like Alanis Morisette for a 2-d hack like that Johannsen chick. Ryan Reynolds had two girls, it's time for him to go back to the pizza place.
  • prtfvr
    Now, now. I hardly consider Hannibal King a super hero. A smart ass, sure but he's no Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds is.
  • Claude
    Personally, I'm not really keen on actors playing more than one superhero character. I mean Ryan Reynolds played Hannibal King in Blade 3, now he's Deadpool and soon Green Lantern. I mean, are all other actors dead? Why would one man hog three superhero characters in a lifetime? When I saw Reeve I saw Superman, I see Hugh I see Wolvie, I see Patrick- Professor X. What do you see when you look at RR? Ok let's not leave RR in a dead-end like Hannibal King, but Deadpool has promise- so what's with GL? There are sooo many actors who could have pulled it off that one easily.

    @ Thandrale

    The REASON behind the mask according to the comics is pretty irrelevent, I just think it's corny... doesn't really matter why, it just LOOKS corny in my opinion.
  • Hey all, I'm about to head over to my bud's where I'll be staying for a few hours before heading to the airport with him.

    Stay tuned for more comic book movie news soon as Comic-Con preview night begins tomorrow. My mission is to find Reynolds and get the answers! ;)

    @Daniel

    Kid Flash? Really? I could never get into Flash. I'm just not looking for a man THAT fast, I guess. ;)
  • Daniel F
    yea I'd rather him do Deadpool first. I really dislike the casting of him in GL for a lot of reasons. One it will cause some conflicts with Deadpool, two he is simply not the right guy for the part and three that means there is no chance he will ever be Wally West.
  • Iron Knight
    I'll prefer he does Deadpool first but that's unlikely to happen...
  • Daniel F
    I agree Vid I would really only want to see it done once. If they over due it not only will it lose humor, but main stream audiences will lose interest.

    I don't know about more recent Deadpool comics but in Joe Kelly's run of the first monthly series back in 97, Deadpool rarely broke the 4th wall in story. He usually did it in the form of "last issue recaps". I think the 4th wall thing is way overblown.

    In a feature length film I would only expect him to do it once or twice max. It could be easily done to great comedic effect. Much of Deadpool's humour is poking fun at pop culture and comic book conventions. It's hardly about immersion into another world.
  • Thandrale
    Suggestion for Sinestro. Christofer Eccleston of Dr. Who fame.
  • Thandrale
    To Ken J
    Green Lanterns mask is part of the Green Lantern corp uniform. Just as a cop or soldier wears a certain uniform. It is symbolic.

    But breaking the fourth wall has never set well with me except for a few comedies. The whole idea is to draw you into a story and make you forget that it's just a story. Immerse you into the world and people until you care about it.

    Breaking the fourth wall ruins that and usually results in making the thing seem trite and silly.

    @tasouli

    I'll have to disagree with you that only guys read comics. I like Soulfire; Fathom; Witchblade; Constantine; X-Men, to name a few.

    I think Deadpool will be hugely successful even if they don't fix the character assassination that was performed on him in Wolverine: Origins. I'm hoping that they do but I know I'll go see to see Ryan Reynolds do as much with the character as he's allowed. I'm pretty sure that RR can make up for a multitude of sins just by being familiar with the character and what fans want.

    Don't care about GL. As much as I love RR, I don't go to the movies to see EVERYTHING he makes. It'd have to have an awesome trailer and or pics to make me want to see it. Which is the goal of trailers in the first place. Hopefully they'll hire a good company to cut one together out of the footage.
  • tasouli
    I think that they needed to cast a well known actor for these movies because these two heroes that Reynolds is playing are less known hereos. I mean, unluess your a guy and into comics you wont know these two heroes. Personally, I think the Deadpool project will be a bust because the character has aldready been ruined. I do see Green Lantern being successful and I think we will get a pretty good origin story out of that.
  • vid
    When the deadpool movie gets made I hope they just ignore the Wolverine movie entirely.
  • prtfvr
    Deadpool is the character that I prefer to see first. I think RR was terrific in the 15 minutes he had to act. He made a big impression. And since he wasn't available to film the added fight scene at the end, I prefer to think that never happened. I liked the fight scene but that wasn't Deadpool.

    Hopefully they really will follow the comic instead of the movie. I'd rather a dramatic departure from the movie than a dramatic departure from the comic.

    I don't care about the Green Lantern. Sorry.

    OMG!!! GEOFF JOHNS IS PRODUCING THE FLASH MOVIE!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

    Barry Allen FTW! :D

    Now we're talking. :D I am so excited!

    LOL!

    Well, GLs are allowed to kill in authorized situations if it makes you feel better. :-P

    Getting a "Zorro mask and space ring" may be corny, but at least GL won't look at the camera to talk to us about it. :-D
  • Ken J
    @KEL

    Not sure about "ninja" but shooting people? That's why I liked Star Wars more than Star Trek, because they actually shot, and killed, people, none of this "set your phasers to stun" BS. So yes, I'd rather see a guy running around shooting bad guys, then telling the audience how he loves how bad guys always line up so he can shoot more than one at a time...

    Somebody commented on how corny breaking the 4th wall will be. How about getting a ring that gives you powers to fly around in space wearing a zorro mask?

    I'm still going to watch both, just pointing out how you can't call one corny without calling the other the same.
  • KEL
    Thanks for that bit, Rob! :-)

    So now that we have GL cast, it will make casting The Flash a little easier. Barry and Hal are the same age and best friends, now we know the age range they were going for with GL, so obviously if they're casting Flas we want them to be close in age. :-)

    I'm just throwing this out there, throw it back if you don't like it, but what about Bradley Cooper as The Flash/Barry Allen? Maybe not the best choice, but I think it could work.

    Or....I've always seen Cooper as a better villain for some reason. How about Reverse Flash/Prof Zoom?

    Great Scott!!! What if Cooper IS in the GL movie, but he's playing....Sinestro!!!! Can ya dig it? :-)
  • KEL
    GL = better made.

    Ken, wouldn't you rather see crazy star wars style space action than a ninja dude shooting people? ;-)
  • Reynolds will do both, no prob - It's just the timing that's the issue.

    He had a little blurb in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly where he says there's no reason he can't play superheroes on both sides, or even other superheroes he really likes we well down the road.
  • Ken J
    The only DC character I have ever liked was Batman, the rest, eh... The only reason I'm interested in seeing the GL movie is because of Martin Campbell...

    I mean, Deadpool or Green Lantern, they are both kind of cheesy comic book characters, but Deadpool is at least here on earth, shooting people, cutting people, using weapons. sure he has a teleportation device, but that's still a far cry from getting a ring and flying around to other planets...

    So character-wise, I would rather see a Deadpool movie, but looking at the production, it's Fox vs. WB with Martin Campbell... Something tells me GL will be a more well made movie...
  • thandrale
    Deadpool will break the fourth wall and know he's in a movie? I don't like the sound of that. Too campy. Ruins the immersion into the story.

    I'm not much of a Deadpool fan. I'd rather see a very SF oriented Green Lantern.
