@ Bruce

Not trying to appear as an antagonist here but “if”

” Before we all get wadded up in a ball, I need to put a seriously large grain of salt on this one.”

“then” why bother posting this? Slow news day? :)

Rob Keyes says:

Are you saying we shouldn’t write about potential casting choices either? Like Cooper in A-Team or dudes in the running for Thor? lol

Foopher says:

Smallville movie = yay

Greenknight333:

Well actually no, I have a ton of other stuff I could have been getting to, but I thought I should bring this to the attention of the faithful Screen Rant readers who might be interested.

I also wanted to make sure everyone knew it was something to be taken in a light of cautious anxiety.

It’s still got potential cool for Smallville fans. Dontch’ya think?

Foopher says:

i do think Bruce. i do think

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

Jimmy says:

Interesting. My first thought is that this sounds cool. Can’t wait for more details. Hopefully at Comic-Con (if it’s actually happening). I can’t see what the reasoning would be for the CW to do this unless it was to spin-off another show. They are a struggling network that needs all the help it can get, but in that case you would think they would be shooting to air this during sweeps, and December is not a sweeps period. Also, why move a show to a Friday night “death” timeslot and then say “you know, this show is so great, let’s make a movie out of it.” Doesn’t make since to me. But what do I know. If this does happen and it is a pilot movie for a new show then I hope they have Clark/Superman in it, even if they have to recast. I can’t imagine that Tom Welling would want to start a new show and continue playing a character he’s already played for nine years, but to have a show called “Metropolis” without Clark/Superman just wouldn’t make since.

Xigbar says:

Anyone else think it would be funny if Smallville ended with Clark NOT becoming Superman?
And no, I don’t mean the show ending before he dons the cape, I mean it ending with him dying or living to old age without EVER doing it?

Foopher says:

i don’t think a movie would be a seed for a spin off. i think warner brothers, being the money suckers tehy are, just want to make it a big thing. and there hasn’t been a movie of him like he is in smallville.

i mean there’s the beginning of the first movie, but that doesn’t count

tasouli says:

This cant happen for so many reasons…1 cause the show is horrible now..2 because I doubt WB woudl allow this becuase it would conflict with the man of steel movie…3-Tom Welling CANNOT ACT and CANNOT hold his own in a film…give me a break this WONT HAPPEN, funny to read about the rumors though

Josh R says:

@tasouli

The article says it would be a made for TV movie, so conflicting with the Man of Steel movie wouldn’t be an issue. But if they’re not going to put in the cape, then they really shouldn’t bother.

Foopher says:

tasouli,

you’re downing everyone’s vibes. the show rocks and a movie would be great

Scottgia says:

Tasuouli, why even leave your message if you don’t like the show. I don’t go leaving blogs for shows I don’t like, because I dont watch them. So if you don’t like the show, stop watching it.
My opinion is that it would be great to see a small screen Smallville movie. I have read that season 9 has metallo and Zod both cast. I feel in season 9 they will follow as closely as Smallville follows the mythos, regarding the death of superman…because I believe in the 8 finale closing scene that it wasn’t Clark. I’m looking forward to season 9 and anything after that. I do agree that season 8 was slow at times, but overall I give it a “B”, not quite an “A”….but I’m hoping season 9 will get an “A”.

Andy S says:

This would be freakin’ AWESOME!! Would love to see the series end with a 2 hour movie in HD!! IF this is true, then Clark HAS to, positively HAS TO, don the suit and fly off into the sunset! WB & CW: MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I’m with Andy S on this one. I think the best thing to do is to have a 2-hr season 9 series finale, ending with Clark donning the suit and flying off. It doesn’t really have to be Welling, it could be CGI but it has to be good CGI, and it would just be a few seconds, like in the first movie.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

And end it with the iconic music from the first and last movie.

Iconic music indeed.

It’s like the timeless theme song that will never go away. I am always finding myself humming it at least once every week and I just don’t know why.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

@Bruce
That’s because it’s a great theme, like Star Wars. It would be great for them to show glimpses from past episodes during the closing credits as well. But the way CW has been, I doubt they will do this.

Foopher says:

I think they should start including that, dun duh dun dah dah (you know what i mean) in season 9. they did a little in season 2 and i was like “excellent”

Frank says:

Hell yeah make that movie they should of used this cast for the Superman returns…If there is ever gonna be a another superman movie it would be wise to use this cast since it already has a following and Tom Welling makes a good Suerman/Clark Kent

Foopher says:

i liked the cast of superman returns. i also like the idea of using this cast
