Diego Luna as Cassian Andor Alan Tudyk as K-2SO in Rogue One

A new Star Wars comic book is going to reveal how Rebel Alliance intelligence officer Cassian Andor and reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO met prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, answering one of the many questions fans had about the new characters after watching the film. As many viewers of the film in question already know, K-2SO was originally manufactured for use by the Empire, before subsequently finding his way to being repurposed as an aid to Rebel forces.

While Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards provided some expository backstory for central protagonist Jyn Erso and her suicide mission to steal the plans for building the Death Star, many viewers were left wondering about several of the other new characters. Among those new faces who were briefly introduced before being abandoned to presumed or explicit death by film's end, Cassian and his faithful droid companion K-2SO quickly became fan favorites whose popularity has now resulted in an original comic book exploring their origins within the Star Wars universe.
