With Disney now in charge of shaping the Star Wars universe, they have already implemented a few changes. No longer are the saga films the only ones hitting theaters. After the record breaking success of The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm and Disney released the first standalone movie in to exist in the galaxy far, far away. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story told the story of the Rebels retrieving the plans to the Death Star, risking it all for the greater good of the galaxy. It was widely assumed that all of the new heroes in Rogue One would meet their demise during the film – and they did.

Even in only two hours though, Rogue One director Gareth Edwards made it possible for audiences to connect with these new characters, with Cassian, Jyn, Chirrut, and K-2SO being among the fan-favorites. In each instance, their death meant something to those watching, which has led to a not-so-surprising development of people hoping to see them again. Prequels – a contentious word in the Star Wars universe – is the only way to make this happen, but with the young Han Solo movie on the horizon, K-2S0 actor Alan Tudyk is hopeful that his droid character could make an appearance there.

Uproxx spoke to Tudyk about Rogue One and was sure to ask him if there was a possible for future for K-2SO in this universe. While he also pitched a Cassian and K-2SO spinoff movie, Tudyk was equally interested in making an appearance in the next Star Wars anthology film. He initially thought his interest was too late and that filming on Han Solo had already finished, but when informed that the movie had only begun filming, Tudyk replied “No, I want to be in that one, man.”

Diego Luna as Cassian Andor Alan Tudyk as K 2SO in Rogue One 1 Rogue Ones Alan Tudyk Wants to Be in the Han Solo Movie

Han Solo already features a stacked cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich in the lead, Donald Glover as Lando, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Michael K. Williams, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and (of course) Chewbacca. That said, with comedy geniuses Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing the film, it would be fun to see how they would go about using K-2SO and his wit.

This is not the first time it has been speculated that Rogue One could crossover with Han Solo either. Early rumors pointed to Ehrenreich making his debut in Rogue One – something that clearly didn’t happen – but Diego Luna also has played coy about the possibility of Cassian Andor appearing in the Han Solo film. Both Cassian and K-2SO appear to be long shots to show up as of right now, but depending on where the movie’s story takes the famed smuggler, it would certainly be possible for either or both of these Rogue One characters to pop up (if only in the background).
