Warning! Spoilers ahead for Robin Annual #1

In DC Comics' annual issue of Robin, Damian Wayne learns the truth about the secret son of the Green Arrow. While Connor Hawke had been absent during the entirety of DC's New 52 reboot in 2011, he's since returned to trade blows with the son of Batman in the Lazarus Tournament. However, Robin Annual #1 sees Daman investigating the backgrounds and origins of several of his fellow combatants using the Batcomputer. As such, Robin soon learns the truth about Hawke and what happened to him in the wake of DC's Infinite Frontier era.

Born in secret to Oliver Queen and Sandra Hawke, Connor knew who his absent father was early on in his life, leading to an obsession with the Green Arrow. He even joined the same monastery Oliver himself once attended, training and learning to become just as skilled as his father, making it his destiny to follow in the Green Arrow's footsteps. Eventually, Oliver and Connor would meet and Queen would learn the truth about his secret son, leading to Connor joining Oliver in his crimefighting efforts.

However, Connor was eventually erased from existence due to the events of Flashpoint and DC's subsequent New 52 universe reboot in 2011. It wouldn't be until 2021's Infinite Frontier reboot that Hawke would reemerge in the current Robin series from writer Joshua Williamson and artist Gelb Melnikov. Now, Robin learns the truth about what happened to Hawke in Robin Annual #1, revealing how Green Arrow's secret son got caught up with the League of Shadows and the Lazarus Tournament as their champion.

Having been rescued and revived by the League of Shadows, it seems as though Hawke feels he owes the splinter group a debt, agreeing to enter the Lazarus Tournament as their champion as they seek to surpass the League of Assassins. In any case, there doesn't seem to be any indication as to why Hawke finally returned from his erasure from the DC Universe. However, there's still plenty for him to do. Not only is he facing the literal Lazarus Demon that's been brought forth, but there seems to be a deeper reason why he didn't accept his bow when the League of Shadows offered it to him. Could it be that he wants to reunite with his father before he wields a bow once more? Does he want revenge, somehow blaming Oliver for what happened to him?

In any case, Connor Hawke's return to the DC Universe is exciting, and Robin's discovery about his backstory confirms he went straight to the League of Shadows after coming back in Infinite Frontier. As a result, Oliver Queen likely has no idea that Connor exists (again). Should the son of the Green Arrow survive his encounter on Lazarus Island with Robin, perhaps a new family reunion will commence in future issues.
