Robert Rodriguez Comic Con 2011 Panel Comic Con 2011: Robert Rodriguezs Quick Draw Productions Panel

Robert Rodriguez is hosting a big Hall H panel at Comic-Con 2011 for his production company Quick Draw Productions, but what he’s showing is rather mysterious. The vague description of the panel only reveals that he’ll be unveiling “exclusive material” for upcoming projects as well as announcing his “latest top-secret project.” What could it be?

We have an exciting guess, so join us as Screen Rant live blogs the panel and heads to Rodriguez’s exclusive event later in the day to follow along and share your thoughts and predictions.

Rodriguez has another family-friendly Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D hitting theaters next month, a far cry in style and themes compared to Machete, a film that held a significant presence at last year’s con. With the director having no officially slated upcoming projects, and him having turned down a chance to direct X-Men Origins: Deadpool for 20th Century Fox, could it be that he is finally announcing Sin City 2?

Follow our live blog and find out as Screen Rant details moment-by-moment the happenings of the event, with descriptions of any footage shown.

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D opens in theaters August 19, 2011.

  1. Robert Rodriguez pisses me off. Way to not make Sin city 2 for 6 years, jerk. No, instead we get another Spy kids. Awesome.

    • yeah.. spy kids 4 looks terrible not even worth watchin it for free

      • Not worth watching or smelling for free. Maybe if it had a Jessica Alba Special scene.

  2. Oh grow up both of you. He ALWAYS alternates kids films with action films. For every Spy Kids 4 we get a Machete. Other news sites are saying Sin City 2 is coming later this year.

    • Machete was a b-movie that was good for what it was. The last quality movie he made was Sin City. Everything else has been at best entertaining.

      • Regardless of your feelings towards the likes of Predators, Planet Terror and Machete, you have to realise a; his kids films aren’t aimed at you and b; those kids films are the ones that help fund the likes of Sin City.

As of right now Sin City 2 has a script. That’s further ahead of where it was last time we heard anything about it.

        • I am not talking about how Sin City got funded. It’s not like Sin City 2 needed another Spy Kids before it got made, Sin City tripled it’s budget which is usually enough for the studios to start to get greedy. I can’t say for sure NOW, after Frank Miller’s The Spirit, and after the crapfests he has been wasting his money on recently, but it’s not like it would have been hard to make Sin City 2 after how well Sin City did.

          • The point is we have to put up with the Spy Kid DUD fests (Well we don’t have to watch them, but they’re taking precious time away from Rodriguez) regardless.

As for Sin City 2, I believe the delay comes with Frank Miller taking his sweet ass time as a writer too.

            • leave rodriguez aloneee, leave him aloneee

            • Taking his time to rewrite material that is already there doesn’t seem that difficult to me. He wrote the Spirit in a jiffy, and although a terrible movie, it wasn’t all laid out for him already.

It’s still 6 years. You don’t make an awesome movie, and then leave it to rot for 6 years. Waiting this long probably hurt the franchise. It’s not just him trying to get the funds together by himself, I am positive Quintin Tarantino would help him out, not to mention the studios, and probably even Frank Miller. So yeah, he does piss me off, and I am sure a great deal other fans of sin city.

      • Yes, Sin City was the last quality movie he made.

  3. With all that post rendering you really think we are getting that this year? Has he even started it yet?
    Maybe 2013.

  4. 2012*

  5. i guess no predators 2

    • I think Fox would just go ahead without Rodriguez if they really wanted to.

  6. Oooh, a new version of Fire and Ice?
    Me like.

The Bakshi version had a lot of promise, but fell woefully short. (But then again, what Bakshi project didn’t?)

  7. Let me guess, he was selling another movie that he will never make and then when he does make one he will “exaggerate” what is in the movie to the point of it being seen as a lie afterwards.
