[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Riverdale ahead.]

-

The trailer for Riverdale season 2's third episode, 'The Watcher In The Woods', reveals a town now aware of the hooded killer - and frightened. While the Blossom murder was solved by the end of season 1 of the show, Riverdale is still a town full of secrets... and the new season is all about the Angel of Death, a killer who isn't too happy about all the deceit.

The first episode of season 2, 'A Kiss Before Dying' saw Archie's (K J Apa) father pull through after being shot, but also saw the Angel of Death claim a second victim. Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel) was seen bidding a romantic goodbye to a new boyfriend/pupil, before the killer popped up behind her to strangle her to death. Now, a trailer for the third episode shows how the town is reacting to a new killer on the loose.

The trailer, released today, reveals that the town of Riverdale is in a panic over the new killer, who is known for now as the 'Black Hood'. At only 40 seconds long (30, excluding the post-trailer promo), it focuses on the killer's motives as he reveals himself to the town through a letter. The trailer even get a voiceover of that letter, as a voice reads: "My wrath is the price of your lies, your secrets, your sins. This is the bloodletting."

The trailer also shows a few interesting altercations between various Riverdale inhabitants. Betty (Lili Reinhart) seems to be threatening Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) in some unspecified way in the Vixens' changing room, Veronica's (Camila Mendes) father is making it very clear that Archie isn't going to be sneaking into her room any more, and her mother is threatening Veronica herself. Meanwhile, Archie is riling up the football team to 'protect our own', and dangling a gun from his hand in another scene, suggesting that he's about to get really dark this season.

It's likely that the identity of the Angel of Death isn't going to be revealed until the end of the season (much like the identity of the Blossom murderer was saved till the final episodes), but seeing Riverdale falling apart as the town attempts to deal with their secrets being exposed is part of the fun of the show. We can't wait to see who's next on the Black Hood's list, and what he hopes to get out of his reign of terror in 'The Town With Pep".
