Riverdale season 6 will return to The CW in March with brand new episodes. Teen drama series Riverdale, based on the successful and popular Archie Comics universe, first aired on The CW in January 2017. An inventive and imaginative teen soap, the series has received praise for being eerie, daring and self-aware, and perfectly combining elements of drama, mystery, and the supernatural.

As announced by The CW (via Collider), the show’s sixth season will return in March of this year, having first premiered in November 2021. The first five episodes of season 6 have already aired, meaning Riverdale has finally reached the 100 episode milestone, with the show choosing to focus more overtly on supernatural themes in these opening episodes. And more episodes are set to follow, with the sixth episode of the season due to air March 20, and a seventh episode a week later.

The direction the show might choose to take now remains unclear, but this season should provide an indicator. While the teen drama has always dabbled in the supernatural, Riverdale season 6 appears to be fully embracing that, and this could well prove to be the focus for the foreseeable future. While it remains unclear how many episodes the sixth season will be, or how many seasons the show may run - star Lili Reinhart has speculated Riverdale season 7 could be the last - as one of the CW's flagship shows, it seems likely the network will want to keep Riverdale going for as long as they can.
