  1. shway

    Ultra-, super-, fantastically-cool!

“(Insert Person’s name), you are so shway!”

yeah, I could never see a weird made up word happen to be in everyday youth language. You wouldn’t have swag if you use such a thing.

  2. “Welcome to Screen Rant Underground where we talk about old toys and cereals.”
That portion of the show was amazing. I had the technodrome as a kid but i never got the pizza shooter and the turtle van. I don’t even remember what happened with them. I think my mother threw everything away when I got in high school and I stopped playing with them. I’m still sad about it. You brought back a lot of memories!!

    Box-office pick:
    1. Insidious Chapter 2
    2. Riddick
    3. The Family
    4. Lee Daniels’ The Butler
    5. Instructions Not Included
    10. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

    • We had a 30-40 minute post show on cereals. Only a few seconds of it was used for the intro :)

  3. Batman Beyond was so shway! The third season wasn’t all that great but I loved the first two and Return of the Joker is still probably my favorite DC Animated Movie. I loved Terry McGinnis because he was more of a punkish Peter Parker in some ways. A movie would be even more shway but that’ll never happen. But Kofi’s Mark Wahlberg impression is amazing. So shway!!!

  4. Insidious 2
    The family
    The butler
    Instructions not included
    Percy Jackson

Also I would like to know what ever happened to the articles that used to come out on Tuesday with all DVD and bluray releases. It was always fun to read.

    • We don’t get Blu-rays sent to us so it became tiresome to find out what’s coming out, what versions, what features, etc. and they weren’t getting much readership. Instead we look ahead! :)

  5. They should just throw Riddick in that coliseum on Geonosis from Star Wars Episode II and have him fight the Acklay, Reek Rhino and Nexu tiger. Who needs a army of clones and Jedi, just use Riddick.

  6. Paul Verhoeven is Dutch, not German. ;)

Dinobots sound like a stupid idea for a live action movie. I didn’t like them in the cartoon either.

Love Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Really looking forward to Riddick. But I absolutely hate that IMAX format change BS. I’m still pissed off that they did that on Blu-ray with The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises & Tron Legacy. It’s a terrible idea and distracting as hell. At the very least they should provide a “no format changes” option via seemless branching.

Can’t get enough of Kofi’s Marky Mark. Some day you should stay in character for a whole episode of the podcast. :D

    • I’ve asked twice about a full-on Marky Mark episode.

      • Keep on nagging him about it! :D

  7. Box office

    1. Insidious chapter 2
    2. Riddick
    3. The bulter
    4. Instuctions not included
    5. The family
    10. Percy Jackson sea of monsters

  8. Torosaurus and Triceratops are still considered two different species, thank god http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17192624

  9. Also the fish thing was a hoax: http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/10/world/europe/scandanavia-swim-warning

    • The teeth are still real!

  10. I liked the Robocop Trailer, I too am wondering if it will eb another Total Recall fail but I do think by making him more tactical there will be less slow chase scenes like the original. Don’t get me wrong Robocop is the man(strange statement) but the fact that he didn’t move fast wasn’t great. I too walked and made the Robocop walking noise.

Surprised Rob Keys dind’t go HAM on the fact that they have Dinobots!!
I like the current incarnation of True Blood but then again I started watching in Season 4 so I have nothing else to go on really.

Anthony & Ben no love for the Newsroom this season.

  11. Hey,
I’m British and just wanted to clear up a couple of things. I don’t know where you get your British definitions from, but in British English:
    Slag = slut
And as for the c word, I can assure you it doesn’t mean something like a**hole. It means exactly the same thing in British English as it does in American English. It is also probably the most offensive word in British English. I would love to know why you all thought the British version of that word was not as offensive???? I was really surprised when listening to that podcast, as you basically got both definitions wrongs, yet you all seemed to agree with each other!

    • I blame the American Education system and its lack of cultural affairs. Or maybe we just believe that the English are to sophisticated too use such crass profanity. In that case, I blame it on the accent.

      • Plus the bowler hats we all wear when we’re having afternoon tea with the Queen

    • :-)

      According to Wikipedia:

“In referring to a woman, c*** is an abusive term usually considered the most offensive word in that context and even more forceful than b****. This is particularly true in America, where the word is solely used referring to women or sometimes even a rather feminine man, while in the UK and Ireland, the word is an insult which can be used for anyone, much akin to calling someone a bastard or wanker.”

“During the UK Oz trial for obscenity in 1971, prosecuting counsel asked writer George Melly ‘Would you call your 10-year-old daughter a c***?’ Melly replied ‘No, because I don’t think she is.’”

    • Thank you samb,

These American guys are super inappropriate. We know better in Canada!

      • Then how do you explain that Justin Bieber creature?

        • American Agent and Manager.

  12. Good show guys…. I criticized Anthony Ocasio a few weeks ago because I was irritated by his nonsensical rants. In my opinion Screenrant is the best podcast because it’s the most relatable to me. I always look forward to the show but I’ve always felt the low point was Ocasio’s diatribes. However, he acknowledged my remarks on the comment board and took it in stride, since then I think he’s stepped his game up by offering valuable opinions and because of that I think the show is so much stronger.

  13. I LOVE how you guys spent all that time with 50 Shades! I kept shaking my head and giggling. You guys def needed a chick to contribute for that one.

    • I kept talking for like, an hour, but Ben cut it out. Can’t figure out why… ;)

  14. 1. insidious chapter 2
    2. The family
    3. Riddick
    4. The butler
    5. Instructions not included
    10. Elysium

  15. I too am glad True Blood is calling it a day after next season, although I greatly preferred this season to the past two, and the show came back to its roots as a trashy soap opera and was less about politics, because no one cares when this show is attempting to “be about something.” But it’s time. Although for the life of me I can’t understand how anyone can prefer the Vampire Diaries…outside of Damon, that show has NO sense of humor about itself. At least TB has a healthy sense of its own ridiculousness. At its very worst, TB still has Lafayette and Pam. VD has bad faux Sarah McLachlan music playing over every damn scene. Give me Bon Temps (or better yet, Sunnydale) over Mystic Falls any day.

But Vampire Diaries is still better than Twilight.

  16. 1-insidious 2
    2 the family
    3 riddick
    4 butler
    5 instructions not included

  17. I think you all gave a fair review. I loved this movie enough to go see it again just to support it. First weekend it didn’t pay for itself unfortunately :/ Riddick is too awesome to let die!

“I had to leverage my house. If we didn’t finish the film, I would be homeless.” -Vin

  18. Andrew Dyce should be a permanent member on the podcast.

    • Agreed!

  19. When Andrew originally mentioned Orange is the New Black, my wife and I had started watching it. It started off as something my wife liked more, but as the episodes progressed, I became more interested. I’ve also heard good things about the Sea World documentary. I stopped watching True Blood after I forced myself to finish season 3…and I’ve only watched the Batman Beyond Joker movie.

I really enjoy your Rants and Raves discussion and have found a lot of shows to watch through it…Derren Brown, Doctor Who, and more. I also like to hear your opinion on shows that I’ve already watched…Archer, Arrested Development, Supernatural, Always Sunny, etc. So with that…I’d like to pay it forward by telling you guys about Quick Draw on Hulu Plus. It is an original program released weekly (unlike Netflix). They call it an improvised comedy western because they set up the scene but the dialogue is all improvised by the actors. The show is about a Harvard educated sheriff (John Lehr – 10 Items or Less) who uses forensic science in a small Kansas town. Also, each week has clips of extra lines throughout scenes and a video to make an authentic drink from that era to enjoy during the show. It’s ridiculous and funny. The 8th and final episode from this season debuts next Monday.

Thanks for the great podcast. I hope you check out this show.

    • Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll try and give it a look!

  20. BTW, Ben saying “my kind of show” in such a serious tone after male masturbation was mentioned was the funniest thing I’ve heard since Kofi’s Marky Mark impression.

  21. Slow news day, huh!? :D Y guys had me rollin’ LMBO!!

W/Riddick,are y trying to give DCCU an hint? ;-)

  22. ….That fish with the human teeth might have been a hoax, but there is a fish that is in the Amazon, that is named Candiru, and the first documented case of the removal of a candiru from a human urethra did not occur until 1997….I was watching ‘ Strike Back’ episode and they mention it, i googled it, and it freaked me out ever since…
