Leading up to the highly anticipated premiere of Rick and Morty season 3 on Adult Swim, series co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have just announced a special event live stream for the program’s most devoted fans. Following the finale of season 2 in 2015, fans of the science-fiction comedy series about the titular alcoholic mad scientist and his emotionally volatile grandson have been left in a bit of lurch with regard to when season 3 will actually air — a wait that has been reportedly determined by the showrunners’ anxiety over churning out anything subpar.

Following the April Fool’s Day season 3 special event debut episode, many fans of Rick and Morty might have begun to prematurely assume that the show had been unceremoniously canceled behind the scenes — or worse the yet, the sometimes combative Harmon had a falling out with Roiland. Thankfully, season 3 is still on the way later this summer, and a live stream has just been announced on the behalf of both Harmon and Roiland.

According to a post published by the official series Twitter account, there will be a live stream event hosted by Rick and Morty showrunners and co-creators Roiland and Harmon this Thursday, June 29, from 6pm-9pm EST. Hosted by the Adult Swim website, longtime fans of the hit animated series will have a chance to listen in to a conversation between Roiland and Harmon about everything soon to come in season 3. Check out the original tweet below:

Well known by now for its stream of bizarre characters and philosophical underpinningsRick and Morty has evolved from its humble origins as a Back to the Future parody into a full-fledged science-fiction franchise in its own right. Roiland really created something special with the show’s eponymous inter-dimensional explorers, and with the added creative insight offered by Harmon, the series has become a must-see original program for Adult Swim viewers.

Rick and Morty season 3 can’t come soon enough, and with any luck the long wait will soon prove to have been worth it. Furthermore, longtime fans can be sure to tune in for the live stream event this Thursday at 6pm EST, before tuning into the newest slate of episodes proper — which are presumably set to air sometime within the course of the next couple of months.

Rick and Morty season 3 is expected to premiere on Adult Swim this year.
