We watched this movie on Xmas eve with our 2&1/2 year old. Now we have watched it about four times. He loved it, we loved it.
I’m trying to figure the year it is set in and is the Ford hubcap a real representation and from what year?

This is what Santa Claus says exactly: “This bell is a wonderful symbol of The Spirit of Christmas as am I. Just remember the true Spirit of Christmas lies in your heart”.
“There’s no greater gift than friendship”.

My critique of the movie is it took two hours to get to the best part of the movie and that is the part where they get to see and interact with Santa Claus.
The best part of the movie is the last 5 or so minutes. This movie could’ve been so much better, the potential was there, but in my estimation they dropped the ball on the way it was done, of course they are following the book so the one to blame for that is the author of the book. It could’ve been a much better story, author of the book. But, as I say they strung it along with filler and nonsense to take us to the “Big Gala” and like I said the best part of the movie is when Santa Claus enters stage left or stage right or stage center. I just loved the part with the interaction with Santa and that’s about it. That’s how I feel about the movie, sorry to those that may not agree, but in truth I don’t know how you couldn’t agree.

I would like to further comment about the “glow” of this Santa Claus in this movie. You don’t see a “glow” with any other Santa Claus ever depicted in any movie or tv depiction. With that said, let me tell you my interpretation of his “glow” it is saying that this Santa Claus embodies everything good and only good.

That he Santa Claus is like Jesus in another form and body and make-up. Do you follow me in what I’m saying. He is just like Jesus or God only in a Santa suit. Again, to emphasize my understanding of this “glow” he, Santa, embodies everything good and perfect in the world in the universe and in the make-up of a person or a being.

He says in the movie, “Christmas is in your heart”. He also says in the movie, “The best gift is friendship”.

I’d like to comment on the portion where the writer says there is no religious connotations to this movie. He is remissed in mentioning that Santa Claus has a “glow” about his entire body.

There is a religious aspect to it and that is that in order to believe, you must believe with your whole entire being, your heart, your mind and your spirit.

Not to notice this in this movie a very serious flaw in a person’s character if you ask me.

I bought the polar express a year ago on DVD and it takes everything in me to keep from watching it before the holidays. I always say I’ll wait until after Thanksgiving because most people are so excited about Christmas, they jump from the jack-o-lantern to the Christmas tree. So despite my desperation, I’ll hold off until the turkey is carved.

This movie always makes me feel like a kid again and i know of few movies that have this effect on me. It’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit and anyone who hasn’t seen it yet definately should.

This movie is the best Christmas movie ever.It really changes the way we look at Christmas and brings memmories of my childhood. The music were really heartfelt and the children dressed in their night clothes were really cute. I think this movie could have never been made any better.No matter what the critics say this movie delivered.
Thank you to the director and the cast and everyone who made this movie possible.
This is one that should be at the top of the history books and should be shown to future generations to keep the spirit of Chhristmas and its true meaning.

I finally saw this yesterday and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Your summary was right on with the “secular” comment, but I guess that’s just the world we live in (really bugged my wife though).

I didn’t think it was “too dark”, but what did have me scratching my head through the entire thing is the idea of making the movie so photorealistic. If you’re going to go that far, why not just make it a live action movie with lots of CGI for effects? I kept asking myself that over and over as I watched the film.

And I never did get quite used to the “animated doll” look of the kids. It did kind of creep me out. Oh, and I kept thinking of Mandark from “Dexter’s Laboratory” whenever the smarmy kid opened his mouth since it’s the same voice and it’s so identifiable.

I AM DEFINITELY AN ADULT (AGE 62) BUT I LOVED THIS MOVIE. I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AT THE GRAPHICS, ETC. IT WAS RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE TOP MOVIES. GREAT NEW CHRISTMAS FAVORITE, I HAVE A LOT BUT WOULD DEFINITELY ADD THIS TO THE LIST. I GOT ON THIS SITE IN HOPES OF FINDING OUT IF THIS WILL BE OUT ON DVD SOON OR WILL IT BE KEPT UNDER WRAPS UNTIL NEXT YEAR???

I took my two children (ages 6 and 7) to this movie last week. We enjoyed the show thoroughly. There are not many movies these days with such positive, uplifting messages. This is certainly something to add to the dvd collection.
P.S. Being a huge Aerosmith fan, it was great to see Steven Tyler affiliated with such an awesome movie.

We went to see “The Polar Express’ in Europe, Belgium, Sint-Niklaas (Santa Claus). With the whole family, 15 in total and we were astonished of the quality, the animation and the motion capture. A sublime piece of work.

The movie was great if you were over 12. However, with young children (age 5), this movie was awful. No fewer than 10 kids had to leave because the movie was so scary. My son personally cried throughout most of the movie. We only stayed because we thought it would get less scary. Thanks for the many sleepness nights caused by this nightmare of a movie !
