Sorry I haven't posted much about the possible sequel... I only have the time to make so many posts so I have to pick and choose what I talk about.

Ok first let me say this is a 5 star movie, 5, let me repeat 5!!! and for that one reviewer i was not the kid that sat in the back of the class and tortured animals in fact i have 3 dogs and 1 cat. Since we are generalizing people ill say that you were probably the kid that sat in the front of the class and was made fun of by all the kids in the back. Ok now that ive vented at a kid who probably will never read what i just said ill get to the review portion of this rambaling typing. The three seperate stories (4 if you want to count hartnett's story) were critical to the pacing of the movie if it was just one of the graphic novels that Frank miller did then it would be to long of movie for the subject matter that the book covers expecialy if you read the comics and see that besides a few scenes all of them are included, how people think it should only be one story is beyond me.The color in the movie was also their for a great reason it makes you pay attention either to that character or to the scene or to represent emotions. Its a technique that Frank does himself even with the batman novels which even though they are in color he has certain colors brighter than others for a reason. Also the music in the movie is just crazy and fits perfectly with the whole movie since its very noirish like since it sounds sorta like 50;s detective music mixed with guitars and techno. The movie is sorta like 4 rooms in that the stories have nothing to do with each other except that they take place in the same city and around the same time of each other besides Hartigan's story which is before and after marvs and dewights story.
I dont really no what else to say about the movie except that even though its gory it is very cartoonish and comic like in everything so its deffintly not realistic and for some reason every body loved the passion of the christ the blood wasnt even questioned in it even though it was very realistic and parents all over brought there kids to watch it, but those same people who took their kids say this movie is imoral and wrong because its a comic and there kids want to watch it enough said i think.

This was, by far, the absolute worst movie I have ever suffered through. When my friend and I left the theater we each divulged that we would have gladly left after 15 minutes had we not thought the other wanted to see it. This is pure idiocy on film. If you're the weird kid in the back of the class in 7th grade that likes to hurt animals after school, you'll enjoy this film. If you have the least bit of intelligence, dignity, and morality, you'll realize quickly that you just wasted $10. :x

Mike,

You gave me something to think about, and in retrospect I've downgraded my rating from 4 to 3.5. I was really torn at the time I wrote the review, and I was leery of giving it between a 3 and a 3.5 because that's such a "safe" or "cop-out" rating to give. You can't be slammed for hating it or loving it, you know? I've also re-written my closing statement.

Did you know the really gross imagined conversation in the car was directed by Quentin Tarantino?

Figures, eh? 8)

Vic

Your review was right on, though persionally I'd dock another star from the rating. Faithful to the comic or not the interweaving of the stories was disapointing. I would rather the stories had been completly indepenedent, with only their zip code in common, then be teased by thier irrelevent intersections. Also, towards the last 1/4 of the film all of the gore started to get to me. No, I did not forget my pair in my wife's purse... I was just full and wanted to step back from the trough for a bit. Ever get that way?

Great review. I adore the film for its accuracy, flaws and all. This may be one of the most debated films ever, as most either hate it or love it.

And I concur... leave the kids at home. With your wife, unless she's a Sin City fan and / or someone with an extremely open mind.

Excellent review, and makes me want to see it even more, especially because of the flaws.

Well written Vic, good review.
