I’m not surprised; I figured it was going to be mediocre. It looks like all that last-minute tinkering (ostensibly in response to the success of The Incredibles) was all for naught. Avi Arad may have been right, though. Once the movie is over and the audience realizes how much time and money they just wasted, maybe there really won’t be a dry eye in the house.

LMAO!!! :D

It actually wasn’t a total loss… I *was* mildly entertained by it, which is why I didn’t go below two stars for my rating.

Vic

Careful… you might encourage a sequel. :P

Well, if someone like Vic, who has very exceptional taste in movies liked it, I might like it too eh?

I agree with you guys to a point, but I put most of the blame in Tim Story’s lap along with whoever picked him to direct it. I don’t know who thought that casting Jessica Alba as Sue was a good idea, but they should be flogged. I would imagine that it was the same pewrson who thought that Tim Story was a good choice as director. Are you telling me that there was no decent director who would have wanted to do this? The pacing was bad, the development was weak, and Dr. Doom was pathetic. The casting of Reed, Johnny, and Ben Grimm I thought was fine. The special effects were very weak. The run time was even stupid at 106 minutes. This movie should have been at least two hours if not longer. This movie just confounds me and I kind of liked it. How can Marvel do things so right with Spiderman & X-men, and screw things up so bad with this. The last few movies (Daredevil, Electra, Blade: Trinity) were all pretty weak, I hope that we haven’t seen the end of good Marvel movies. X-men 3 with Brent Ratner at the helm, is next on the horizon I think, so things are looking pretty poor for Marvel right now.

It seems all these points haven’t hurt the box office any. Of course the second weekend will be the real test of how sucky a movie the public will flock to.

I just saw “Fantastic Four” for the second time and I have to admit I liked it a bit better this time around. I guess not having expectations of it being another “Spiderman” in terms of quality and emotional punch the second time around and just accepting it as fluff helped.

It would probably eke out another 1/2 star from me. 8)
